    Default VIN Breakdown

Still waiting for arrival date on my 3 .... *sigh*.

Have been given a teaser, if you will; just a VIN Code, and I was wondering the breakdown of it.

    Could somebody please post it?

Only two parts I know for sure.

First digit indicates where the car was built \"J\" for Japan..

and the 8th from the end is the model year... 5 for 2005, 4 etc..
    Damn you photobucket.....

Well, so far those two pieces of information are correct... it does indeed start with a J, and the 8th digit from the end is indeed a 5.

Excellent! Thanks for the information; so at least I know for sure that the car coming my way is in fact a 5door of some sort, with the 2.3 engine.

Now if only the dang thing would actually arrive.

Found it online...not 100% sure if it's accurate.

Edit: above might be wrong...found several other sources with the following:

    (J) Japan
    (K) Korea

Good list of info. Thanx Xerox
