    Default Best Overall CAI (Performance/Sound)?

    1. AEM
    2. Injen
    3. Fujita F5
    4. F2
    5. Mazdaspeed

Alrighty, which one do you guys recommend for an '07 Sedan 2.3? I'm leaning towards the Fujita or Injen. And which one would you guys say is the best against getting the annoying CEL/water issue?

    thanks,

    Crimson

i have the Fujita, and while ive only had it on for a week now, i love it!!
i makes a awesome 'turbo spoolin' noise at higher rpm, hehe.
and it makes a 'loud' WHOOSH when i shift or hit the gas... overall i like it.
and the price was good too.. bought it used for $200 off of Zubbie, but the group buy right now is for $230... so decent price

I've got the Fujita and love it. Its been on now for the past 5 months. The only CEL i got was when 2 of the wires came out from the MAF sensor. No water issues whatsoever. Really I can only forsee a water problem if you elect to drive through a small river.

My advice, no matter what intake you choose, extend the MAF wires by about six inches. It'll save you a pain in the ass in the long run.

Also, about a month ago, Fujita won their court battles with Injen on their design battle. Injen took Fujita to court over their design because the guy who owns Fujita was either a part owner of Injen or a higher up at Injen's R&D department and decided to start his own company. I believe that is why the Injen and Fujita are so similar.

My 2 cents, go Fujita, the price is right and IMO it blows the others outta the water.

Sweet..ya, I'm just waiting for SSG to shoot me a PM and let me know when the Fujita is in.

So the Injen and Fujita are similiar and so are the AEM and Mazdaspeed..so the F2 is the only other one that's somewhat unique I guess?

MS ftw! I love the sound it makes right from 2500 right up to the redline! Expensive, but worth it.

My impression is; Sound wise: I would'nt know I haven't heard all intakes but performance wise I think everyone would be guessing unless they had dynos done with all different intakes. But if you go MS its the safe bet as you would not get any warranty issues and I doubt there is much of a difference between MS and the others, performance wise anyways, price now thats different and...there's only so much you can design into an intake.

    +1 to what flagrum said.

Its hard to imagine that some of the intakes would give a larger gain than others, i think the numbers are pretty similar across the board (from seeing pics of dyno's posted on this board for a few of em)

I have a K&N and it sounds great and picks up quicker. But if I had the cash to spend I would have gone MS.

The Mazdaspeed comes with a splash shield to guard against water coming in. You can add one to any of them tho so don't use that as you're only deciding factor. I had an Injen on my MSP and loved it. Never had a CEL or any other problem. I'll probably go Fujita this time with my MS3 just because of everything I've read and heard about them from other ppl that have them. I'd say go with either Injen or Fujita to save some $$$ and still get good performance with quality to back it.

me too, I can't wait to install this when SSG has them in (hopefully sometime this summer) *lol*

Of the intakes I have heard, I like this one best (haven't heard the F2 yet)

The only difference with the F2 is the pipe diameter is larger then everyone else, don't know if that's necessairly good though.

i have the mazdaspeed one from Joe (Flipdady) at MoT. 375.33 taxes included, TM3 price. PM him though for up-to-date pricing.

i love my intake..there does seem to be a quiet wheezing sound right around 2800 rpm though; as if air was squeezing in past something. maybe the hose clamps weren't tightened properly; i'll have to check on that.

besides that though, very nice sound; it was pretty loud the day i installed it, but seems to have mellowed down a little bit.

[Edit: i have an '06 2.3L..so i can't tell you if this fits the '07s]
There is a theory which states that a billion monkeys pounding on a billion keyboards will eventually produce the works of Shakespeare.

Thanks to the Internet, we now know this theory is wrong.

Ya I'm assuming that Mazda didn't really change anything engine wise..so all the intakes from 05-06 should fit '07. Can anybody else confirm this?

The Mazdaspeed intake is a lot more expensive now I think, I considered it before getting the Fujita but the Fujita is simply a better deal.

I read on mazda3club.com before that it does fit but don't quote me on that. Ask Joe to make sure.

Excellent! Thanks for that bit. Not that I need to spend more money than I already have..I've only had my car for 3 weeks and I've spent over $5k (including the lease exchange fees...)

basically, if a mazdaspeed authorized dealer installs the parts, they're covered for 12 months/20,000 km, or the duration of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, whichever is longer.

which is probably why the part is more than a hundred bucks more

Just FYI, It came with the same warranty you just described last year.Who knows why the price went up? .....more profits would be my guess.
