Default Brake Fluid performance vs cost, Mazda interval maintenance

You know this is the best time with black friday sales and xmas sales , new years sales, to look at buying discounted upgrades or just parts for regular maintenance in 2021.

Many do not think about brake fluid, I know many on TM3 say dont touch the brake fluid unless necessary.
Long story short Mazda manual says to replace every 24 months / 40,000 kms... whichever comes first.
You will need 500 ml for those DIY brake line bleeders.

If you considering upgrading your brakes, are a spirited driver, do autocross slaloms, track your car or time attack.

Here is quick snap shot of some research i did when comparing Liqui Moly Racing Brake Fluid (not many places have it ...
Liqui moly doing a product redesign..but GermanParts.ca should have it when available...)

Brand dry boil / wet boil price size

    Motul 600 312 C 205 C $25 500 ml ~ i've seen it as low as $18
    Motul 660 325 C 204 C $40 500 ml ~ seen as low as $35
    EBC B307 310 C 204 C $40 1000 ml
Castro SRF 310 C 270 C $120 1000 ml ~ the holy grail of brake fluids to compare against but i really dont know why
Endless RF650 323 C 218 C $60 500ml ~ this one presently being used by F1 Petronas and BMW GT series , WRC and Hot and Cold rally racing others.
    Endless S-Four 323 C 218 C $ ~ looking into it , less cost than RF650 where S-Four designed for street / spirited /light track.
    Liqui Moly Race 320 C 200 C $14 250 ml
    Liqui Moly 5.1 260 C 185 C $7 250 ml

here is link to endless (Swedish company with most if not all products , pads, rotors, caliper made in Japan)
    http://endlessusa.com/

Im on Liqui Moly 5.1 for this year and a half. I have tested this one on OEM sized calipers with upgraded pads and like the firm pedal feel.
Upgraded my front to 330mm rotors / 4 piston calipers and kept oem rear and wow what a difference.
Did 2 really long lapping sessions with high speed late braking ... just last week at cayuga ...
Over and hour , 52 laps non stop and no issues at all with the liqui moly 5.1 fluid. No fade, same pedal feel and pressure.
Changing and bleeding fluid when the summer tire come back on.

    PAGID RBF dry Boil 330C wet boil 200C 500ML $48 on amazon.ca

Thanks for this list! Very comprehensive I'll definitely refer to this if my 3 ever becomes my track toy.

"I know many on TM3 say dont touch the brake fluid unless necessary." This triggers me so much, brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air over time and loses effectiveness. DD's definitely should follow the 2 year rule.

    Liqui Moly 5.1 260 C 185 C $7 250 ml
Is not considered a race brake fluid ...
Motul also has a 5.1. If it comes on sale buy it.
They are all packed with nitrogen for longer shelf life unopened.

Here is another you can add to this list if you are looking for a high performance brake fluid.

Gulf Competition RF800 and RF1000 . I wanted the RF800 but they sold out fast and still sold out (it was a 50% off during the xmas holidays sale at Perry AutoLaval)
    https://perryautolaval.com/products/...ng-brake-fluid

    Gulf Competition RF800 305C Dry Boil / 205C wet boil 500ML
    Gulf Competition RF1000 325C Dry Boil / 205C wet boil 500ML

Brand dry boil / wet boil price size

    Motul 600 312 C 205 C $25 500 ml ~ i've seen it as low as $18
    Motul 660 325 C 204 C $40 500 ml ~ seen as low as $35
    EBC B307 310 C 204 C $40 1000 ml
Castro SRF 310 C 270 C $120 1000 ml ~ the holy grail of brake fluids to compare against but i really dont know why must be the wet boil point stays high after contamination.
Liqui Moly Race 320 C 200 C $14 250 ml ~ no longer available until package is rebranded and then product approved.
    Liqui Moly 5.1 260 C 185 C $7 250 ml

    Added :
    MOTUL RBF 700 dry Boil 336C wet boil 205C 500ML $61 (from UK )

    PAGID RBF dry Boil 330C wet boil 200C 500ML $48 on amazon.ca

Mazda interval for Brake fluid is 40,000 kms or 24 months.
If you are an car enthusiast and like to drive aggressive , occasional track or autocross i would tell you not to go to 24 months.
Most advanced driving courses like at the Trillium on CTMP GP track or at IRL on the DDT track require a tech inspection and
want fresh brake fluid (less than 6 month old) plus min pad thickness , thread wear mins, etc.

for most people, the cheap castrol DOT4 (used to be called GTLMA) works good enough... if you're in an emergency, the Prestone DOT4 from walmart works in a bind... everything else that's worth mentioning, beats it, even the cheap castrol (which isn't as easy to find), but it's still better than most brake fluids found in stores

    Hey thanks !
    Castrol DOT4
    Napa has it at $5.69 354ML . https://www.napacanada.com/en/p/CAS0032144
Here are some specs from Castrol website: Dry Boil 260C / Wet boil 165C

Castrol also makes a Super Dot 4 dry boil 264C/ wet boil 185C
But it doesnt look its available in Canada

It looks like Castrol has not gone the 5.1 brake fluid route and continued with DOT 4 and labeling it advanced formula
or Super Dot 4 which both have same or better specs than other 5.1 brake fluid from Liqui Moly & Motul.

DOT5.1 will work fine too, and probably better for those up north... it's designed to work well with ABS pumps in the cold, as it won't thicken up... it ought to also let the clutch cylinders work well also in the cold

Here is one i only found out about from Millers Oil available thru Ultraray Motorsport
They usually offer a 10% off website or better . I'll port when i get a TM3 official price.
    https://ultraraymotorsports.com/prod...luid-300-plus/

Millers Oil Race Brake Fluid 300+ 310C Dry 215C Wet boiling 500ml (less than $26)

Also something you should think about if you using a race fluid all year road like i do
and with covid has resulted in low daily miles and extended intervals.
With Brake fluids water absorption is what is what kills the performance
So longer intervals with on track & lapping im looking at fluids with higher wet
    temps ...

Ultraray Motorsport did let me know TM3 price is $24 for 500ml .. reach out to Jon jdunski@ultraray.com

This race brake fluid has a high wet boil at a great price . The next step up would be to go to SRF or Endless
    with a considerable price increase.
