View Full Version : LOCKDOWN Independent Foglight modification RECALL!!

Hello Everyone

We have discovered a potential issue with the OEM independent foglight modification using the reconfigured OEM foglight relay. The issue we have discovered appears to pertain to the use of aftermarket bulbs in the foglight housing and the extra current draw that aftermarket bulbs can create.

It appears that the current draw from the use of aftermarket bulbs is slightly higher than the OEM relay can handle, especially with the extra length of wiring used for the independent foglight modification. We have come up with a solution for this issue, which is completly replacing the OEM foglight relay with a higher current handling automotive relay and upgraded wire harness system to the OEM relay connections.

This new configuration is how from this point onwards ALL independent foglight modifications will be performed at LOCKDOWN. Over the last year we have done a number of TM3 member\'s Mazda 3\'s for this modification and as such are inviting everyone who has had this done here at LOCKDOWN to contact us and we will upgrade the relay at NO CHARGE. We will also be making an effort to contact everyone directly in case they do not see this posting here on the forum.

While this is an issue only for those vehicles that have been equipped with aftermarket bulbs in the foglights, in the pursuit of 100% reliability in all situations we are offering this upgrade to ensure there are no possibilities for problems in the future.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have, we can be reached at:

LOCKDOWN you rule!
If I had any doubts about using you for HID installation you eliminated these totally.
Jeff, what would be the cost of the independant fog mod along with the install of an aftermarket HID? With the days getting shorter better lighting is needed.
Thanks! :)

Hello Everyone

Thank you for the positive feedback, our main business goal is to ensure that everyone we serve here at LOCKDOWN receives the best possible service and support available, thus the reasoning behind posting this recall.

Our pricing on the independent foglight mod is going to increase to $39.99 plus taxes (used to be $34.99 plus taxes) to accomodate the addition of an external relay.

Again, thank you for the positive feedback, it is always much appreciated, and thank you to everyone here on the forum for allowing LOCKDOWN Enterprises Inc. to work on their vehicles.

Regards

Jeff Bates

Hello Everyone

I have not set a time limit for this recall, I have a list of all the vehicles and the owners of the cars which we have done, so I will be checking off the names as they come in to have the relay set-up switched.

Feel free to call me when you are available and we can set up a time for you to come in and have the relay swapped out. You may recive a call from me as I go down the list of names and contact everyone to make them aware of this recall.

Hey Jeff ,

I got my HID kit installed @ lockdown during the summer. I wish to come in and have the relays swapped out as i plan to replace the stock fogs with yellow ones :p The only problem is that I am in waterloo right now (school) and do not plan on coming back home till christmas. Do you think it is possible to get this done in january ? will you still be doing this is january ? Please email me at: andrewmarkchin@gmail.com

Hi Jeff,

I did the independent fog mod myself. After reading your recall, figure I better upgrade the relay. How much are you selling the upgreded oem fog relay? Can I just drop by and pick one up?

thanks,
-John

Hello Everyone

I have contacted or left messages with everyone on my listing of Mazda3\'s that we have done. We do not have a time limit for this modification, and as such welcome everyone who cannot make it in right away to give us a call when they can make it in to see us.

The price for just the relay and modification for anyone who has performed this already is $19.99 plus taxes, including the relay and all labour.

Jeff

you left a message on my phone a day or so ago and i got back to you , but you were busy and never called back. you said you had a question about my ind. fog mod. I read your recall and its great news, but i dont have aftermarket fogs. and my connections still got toasted. hopefully your open mondays, ill give you a call and maybe set up an appointment to get it done again. i like the way my car looked in the daytime with just the fogs on.

when i was having my car problems a couple of weeks ago with the connections and stuff i took my car to mazda to get it looked at, but before i took the car in i totally dis-assembled the ind fog mod. just disconnectoed the wires that go into the fuse box and under the steering column. can you still do this upgrade, i guess you\'ll need to do the entire install again. anyhow...ill call you on monday and we\'ll talk it over...thanks again...

Hello Luke

It was nice to talk to you over the phone yesterday, I\'ve had a very hectic scedule over the last few days (actaully weeks:)) and as such unfortunately had not had a chance to call you back. As per our conversation this recall is valid until we complete everyone\'s vehicle we have worked on in regards to this mod.
