so for those of us running on springs who did not swap out for this coming winter....with the recent snowfall we have had over the last week, how have u been finding your driving experience?

my main thing is the fact that im basically tuckin rubber on my 16inch winter tires...which leads to an intresting profile driving in the snow.....rim...rubbber...slush...fender, leaving nothing but gunk in the little wheel gap thre is. So this winter will be a winter of scraping out the wheel well on a snowfall basis, almost everytime it snows. haha, i sure as hell know what im gonna do next winter to prevent this.

Lets hear your experiences!

I\'ve had no problems thus far *knock on wood*
Ride is a lot more forgiving with the winters on
Last year (stock ride height) I had scrape out the snow/slush from the wheel well and same this year.

Well i\'m having this stupid and annoying problem every time i park at a place. I had to use the end of my brush to take them out. Some of them are so hard i can\'t take them out and they scrape my tires. Oh and BTW i\'m still running on stocks. I\'m still waiting for the donor to come back from hk to get my tires. :(
Anyways i think the only way i\'m going to prevent this is get adjusting coilovers :D

I still havent installed my H-Techs and im wondering if i should get coilovers now ...

Its not the ONLY way, just the best ;) lol

My car got jacked back up about 2 weeks ago. Although sitting at stock height, the ride is still a tad harsher than stock.... but I still love it.

I had H&R race springs and totiko blue shocks on my Prelude, and it was fun plowing snow all winter...:P I would recommend swappng them out or getting coilovers.

Well last year when driving down HWY 7 or other places after our LARGER snowfalls I could hear the snow rubbing on the underside of the car. That was at stock height. It was then that I decided to do coilovers.

I would suggest driving this winter at stock height, and just be aware of the conditions... then think to yourself \"Would I want to be 2\" lower?\"
then you\'ll know whats best for you.

I had springs last year, and now coilovers, which I run on almost the lowest setting all year round. Haven\'t had any problems - 90% of my driving is on the highway and downtown.

As for slush getting stuck in the wheel wells - it soon melts off in a heated parking garage. Otherwise, spraying it off at the coin-op works well.

I wanted to do that but i dont want any part of the suspension to freeze up.

I just love the sound of snow hitting the bottom of your car... wonderful!

haha i especially avoid those large chunks that fall off other cars... but it\'s well worth it to see your car slammed with black steelies.... mmm sexy!

I said F-- it with raising the car... just too lazy, gonna plow away!

in winter, the whole entire underbelly of your car is pretty much a solid chunk of ice for most of the duration of the season anyway...

Lowered cars love the snow! Just watch out for those 2 foot potholes and hidden curbs.

Hey Pearl_Hatch your suspension won\'t freeze.:sarc

Ok then i\'ll keep that in mind because i\'m sick and tired of scraping those stupid gay ice/snow out from the fender.:)

So far, this is my first winter running it lowered. Last winter i ran it with my front lip & everything was ok, but this year, with a 2\" drop, i think i need to remove it.

Also, since i\'m running different profile tires with my winters, they seem to be slightly tucking, so i get rubbing if i take a corner a bit too fast... I normally run 205/50/15, but this winter rubber is something like 185/65/14 or something like that... My speedo is off too... lol.

My previous 1.6 EL....

dumped 2.25 front and rear...

no camber kits....

all I did was the following:

Rust Proof the car
Alignment
Put on 14 inch steelis and 185/65 snow tires.

small tires slammed the EL to the ground even more, I mean the OEM bumper was close to the ground. No lip at the time period

None the less, drove the winter like a champ....

plowing the streets of Mississauga with my OEM bumper LOL....all in all still got better traction than any soccer moms SUV..

only one time I got stuck which was in my driveway because I didnt bother to dig out the snow. thought maybe I will slam the gas in reverse and voila I am out and off to drive...

Nope the result of that one, car sank right into the snow OEM rear bumper plowed enough to burry itself into the deep deep snow and planted the whole car into the snow...couldnt dig it out, had to wait till I got back in the evening which ended up with more snow and nearly couldnt find my car.

snow is nothing for a lowered car, i learned, as long as you got the snow tires and Rust proof your ride.....YOu can face the winter without any problems.

I remember back a few winters ago when I had my lowered Prelude, I am not sure how low the drop was but I was tucking ruber on all corners.

I decided to go to the coin-op spray wash on a not so cold evening. I finished washing my car and when I went to reverse there was a lip of ice that caused the nose of the car to hit the ground when I tried to reverse out. I was stuck in the bay. I tried for about 15 min. to get out. I reversed at all different angles and nothing would work, the nose would keep hitting. Just when I was about to call home and have my brother meet me there with a shovel the owner of the car wash showed up to clean the bays. He went and got a big ice pick and a shovel and started to chip away at the ice. I told the guy I would do that while he cleaned the other bays. He ended up giving me $20 bucks for doing it, I refused but he insisted.

I was so embarrassed because during the whole event a line of people had formed behind me.

Now I always check for ice.
