Given the slant the editorial in this BLOG has taken it\'s really no surprise that the author would come to the decision he has. But he takes the shortcut to his conclusion.
It\'s easy to look at extremist on both sides and paint the entire religious group with the same wide brush. Osama does not speak for all Muslims just as Pat Robertson does not speak for all Christians. The only thing these two have in common is that they make great sound bites to sell news. You could also go on and on about how religion is the cause of many wars. No doubt about that.
However, the author fails to consider the good the religion has brought to peoples lives. In a time when there is uncertainty in the world it\'s really no surprise that people have looked to faith for comfort and a sense of moral compass. It shows that people want more than what is being presented to them. Religion has been at the forefront of civil rights marches in the United States. It was the Evangelical Christian Churches that organized the first civil rights marches. The churches across Eastern Europe gave hope to those under communism and were instrumental in bring down those corrupt governments. To ignore what religion has done that was beneficial to humanity is to truly be, and I\'m going to use the authors own words here, \"ignorant or misinformed.\"
Sorry, but I don\'t find anything wrong with believing in something that inspires you to be tolerant and compassionate to those around you. It only makes you a better human being. The problem has always come when those beliefs are IMPOSED on others through laws, wars and conflict. There is no excuse for that.
Merry farking Christmas everyone.

irrelevant to this CAR forum - everyone believes what they will - nothing has changed in 2000 years.
Time is fleeting - madness - takes control......

Anyhow, quite frankly I like the what the author has to say, maybe a little sensational, but sometimes you have to be to grab peoples attention.
