On April 10th, 2006 I\'ll be taking back my P5 with bitter sweet memories. My car has a chronic 2nd to 3rd Gear grind and it has re-appeared with a tranny swap under warranty. It is a Leased car so I\'m choosing to run from it and start fresh next year with something new.

My dad has a 04 sedan Mazda 3 and I\'ll hang around on this board for tech advice.

I loved car club events and I wish the best for this Mazda 3 Board and some of the peeps I\'ve met on-line and in-person briefly. I\'ll be around. Here is a hyperlink to some of my memories from the TPC Board.

Well its sad and happy at the same time. Sad that you\'re putting away the car but you can get a new car on the other hand. But wish you all the best with your new car and stick around with us and see if you can come out to our meets if you get a chance.

Just to clarify, your MZ3 is having the tranny problem for the second time and Mazda Canada is taking it back? How do they still have your P5? Maybe I\'m missing something, and if so, hopefully somebody can clarify.

My O2 Mazda Protege 5 manual tranny has this annoying and disturbing clunk, chunk, notchy grind when shifting from 2nd to 3rd Gear. This was reported at 48K to my dlrship which could not replicate the problem and deemed it normal. 10 other TPC club members at various meets test drove my car and noticed that the 2nd to 3rd gearshift change was abnormal. I test drove their cars as well and concluded I had a faulty product. I dug up ultra secret DSB and TSB\'s and took it back to the dlrship which found nothing wrong. At least 2-3 other TPC club members had this problem too.

One ultra cold winter night the 2nd to 3rd gear shift change got really fawked and lets just say that Mazda was forced to replace the tranny. Well 15K after the tranny swap the prob came back and I knew it wasn\'t in my head. So the lease is up and I knew I was gonna walk away rather than live with this problem. Maybe the dlrship didn\'t want to invest time into a lease vehicle I may or may not have bought out. I\'m glad that I\'m turning it in though.

I\'ve come to realize that material things are just that and that a great car company can have the odd lemon or two, but the key is choosing the right \'people oriented friendly and understanding\' dlrship. That\'s why Mazda of BRAMPTON service department and the cocky lil\' f-er who assumed that because of some rice stickers on my ride I was maybe somehow powershift my tranny when I drag raced.

I\'ll still make it out to some key meets like DarkNights and M.O.M. and of course I\'ll have to get some jerk chicken for Adam. Damn bastard will never let me live it down.

As for the next vehicle, I have a handful of models in mind and a slight change of lifestyle. This will be a key year for me to save and see what will go into production as I plan to buy next December or January.
