Hey guys,

Ive done some searching but i cant seem to find another posting about this. Now my car is only 2 weeks old just hit the 1000km mark, anyways when i downgear into second as my car is slowing im getting a whining sound. Now this isnt a car slowing down, or rpm dropping noise its a whine. 2nd is the only gear to do this, and I was wondering if anyone else had this, or should i bring it up to the dealership. Any input is welcomed.

Thanks guys,

Paul.

I would just bring it to the dealer. The car does come with warranty =p.

is your car MTX or ATX?
is it limited to any specific rev range?
which engine? (2.0 or 2.3L)

heads up: I dunno much about this topic. I can only hope the 3 additional Qs, helps ppl diagnose your problems

I have a manual 2.3 Litre. Its only in second gear and it only happens when downshifting and letting the engine slow me down, if i press the clutch in while its making the sound the sound stopps.

It\'s called gear whine. 2nd gear always whines like that. If you listen closely you can hear the whine as you accelerate... it\'s more noticable as you decelrate in gear...
That\'s normal.

Frankly, if you\'re not listening really close you can\'t really hear it. Bloody car is so quiet!!

More and more cars are becoming very detached from road feel. Apparently everyone wants to drive around in a car where the interior is as quiet as a Rolls Royce Phantom! Horrible!!!
