Hi,

I tried the search tool, but only found info Nexen winter tires. Anyone running Nexen n3000\'s? How do they compare to RSA\'s?

I just had them installed today on my stock 17\'s. I\'ll post up when I have put some km\'s on them.

Also, I picked up 215/45/17; what tire pressure should I be at? The guy at the shop said I should run 40 psi or the tires may crack. Anyone know about this?

Thanks,

Jason.

40psi...no no no!!! Run the Tire pressure recommened for our cars....or like just about any other car.. 32 psi. If the tires feel a little soft i.e not responsive/mushy try 33psi maybe 34psi

40 psi that\'s crazy

N3000 (http://www.wheelselections.com/Nexen%20Tire.php)

typed it in...this is what came up.. took 5 seconds;)

I would say it looks and sounds 10 times better than the RSA... but.. it is not all season rated..

Thanks for the link! All seasons are not an issue for me because I have dedicated winters /steelies. I wasn\'t sure about them, considering the price. But I figure, for the cost, if they last 1 season I\'ll be happy. From what I read they tend to have a reasonable tread life.

Thanks,
Jason.

treadwear rating of 340 those should last alot longer than the RSA\'s. No reason not to get 60K out of them. You have steelies as well. So these will be used only 8 months of the year.

I\'ve been meaning to update the thread on these tires. I\'ve put about 800 - 900 kms on them both city and highway.

So I have found that they handle ok, not great though. I wish they had more grip, however I believe they are a fairly hard tire, so fair trade in the long run I guess.

I usually push it fairly hard when the road is clear, and I find sometimes they still break loose where I think they should be holding, and other times I find that they hold when I\'m expecting them not to. So they still surprise me some days.

Something I have noticed is that they make the car feel quite flat when cornering and accelerating, which I\'m happy with. I\'ve never had 45\'s before, so it might be related to that (comment if you know).

I wonder if they would last a day at the track. Anyone tested them?

Overall for what I paid they are good. Initially I was looking at Yokohama\'s, but for $125 / tire I thought what the hell. I\'m happy if they last 1 summer.

If they get better I\'ll update the thread.

Thanks,
Jason.

Being a 45 series tire (less sidewall) they are a little stiffer. This should give a sharper / quicker response to your steering inputs.
Are you running them at a high psi? That would make them harder and break loose a little under hard load when cornering.
When they do break loose...are the tires hot or cold. You might feel them to be a little slippy when first going out in the day since the tires are cold (hard)...after driving around awhile and the tires heat up (softer) I bet you notice improvement in the handling.

I\'m sure these tires would be fine for a lapping day. They will get hot (nice and sticky) and run them about 36-38psi...great treadwear rating so they should hold up good..

I dropped the pressure to 32 - 33 psi after I got them, which made a big difference. I have found they are greasy in the morning, and they do improve after warm up. They also improved a bit after putting so kms on them

Overall they tend to get loose at high RPM in 2nd gear corners. Under decelaration when I downshift through an intersection they are becoming predictable; under accelaration, usually just after the apex, they start to drift when I think they should be sticking.

I\'m still pleased overall.

Jason.
