snap!
48+ offset I dont think you will, I am quite definate the rears wont as long as you dont have some heavy system (because the rears tuck still within the fenders), the fronts possibly but I\'d have to look at my car to judge it better.
I don\'t think you\'ll have problems. 225/40R18 works fine on 18x8 RX-8 rims, even when lowered.
IIRC they\'re et+53 - there\'ll be more than enough fender clearance but I\'d worry about rubbing the struts.
Shes fine for the struts, she has 4mm more clearence then an rx-8 setup assuming her wheels are 48 offset
In that case I don\'t see why running a 225/45R17 would cause any problems. The offset is more than high enough.
I think doing a stretch with 215s would look weird with the wheels inside the fender (no poke).

The one issue is the tire itself. They are not all the same. The size might be, but the sidewalls are all different. If it is a straight sidewall...it could work. But the more agressive performance tires the side wall is rounded, so even thought it says 225/45/17, thats the tread...the actual sidewall could be wider.
Have to read up more on the Section Width (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tirespecskey.jsp#sectionwidth) of the Tires your interested in.
One Tire might be 8.9\" wide another 9.5\" wide. I would say avoid anything with a 9\" section width.
As for the section width you should be fine as well, same spec as running ASX 225/40/18 on rx-8s. It is actually .1\" less then asx on an rx-8.
