BETRTHNU

too hot into the corner...don\'t feel bad everyone usually wipes out there. Were you trying to get into the inside or was that just from the speed. From the video it looks like if you kept it on the outside line you would have \"swung\" through the turn ok. I guess the video doesn\'t reflect how fast you were going though...good job. Hope there isn\'t any damage.

Glad you are ok and damage is minimal. My comments are as follows;

1 - Your lines suck, take some lessons.
2 - You didn\'t counter steer, take some lessons.
3 - It wasn\'t your tires, take some lessons.
4 - Buy a helmet and wear it, Sliding sideways through bumpy grass is an easy way to flip your car. I\'ve seen it, trust me! 200-500 is cheap when it comes to your life.

I\'ve said it before and I\'ll say it again, the best mod you can ever buy is a performance driving or racing school.

kind of harsh, but you\'re right...tires wouldn\'t have helped much. Helmet is a must. You should do the Ian Law track school next time to get a professionals help on the course.

You just cut inside to sharply. Tires broke loose.

In regards to Maxrpm\'s comment 1-3.. We are taking lessons ..lapping day:)

edit. and ian law.. He has no dates .. his school schedule sux. there is only 1 date.

That really sux Warren, but I\'m glad to see you\'re OK...just a slightly damaged undercarriage...and a bruised ego? From the looks of the video the reflection of the sunlight of the road surface probably distracted you a little. Except for the end it sure looked like fun.

Looks like he overcorrected as soon as the sun hit the front of the car. Perhaps he lost the sight of the apex for just that split second and that was enough to make the error. More reasons not to race in late afternoon…

…more reasons to stick with the Formula Kartways (http://www.formulakartways.com/) for now too ;)

No need to be so harsh...:sarc How about asking if the guy is okay first before ripping his head off for wiping out and having no helmet?

We all have to start somewhere with everything in life and this was Warren\'s first track/lap day. I give him credit for being man enough to post actual details on his wipeout. Most guys wouldn\'t have done it for fear of people like you laughing at him. I sure now that he has gone to a track day, he will be more interested in driving school/lessons.

My advice is, if you know so much about everything in life, which it seems like you do since you\'re are just as harsh in the Financial Thread, then why don\'t you share your knowledge with us instead of acting like an smart arse sometimes?

When I saw the video, as Warren\'s friend, it look pretty scary to me and I immediately asked if he was okay.

How about supporting each here on TM3 instead of posts of \"You suck, I told you so...\"

You would get more respect had you worded your post in a different manner.

Props to Warren for tracking. But Max\'s comments are totally within reason. It\'s dangerous out there.

During my first session of the day (probably second or third lap of that session), I did a 180 spin out. Luckily it was entirely on the track. Then at the end of the day when I had big fade problems with the brakes (actually, I think they\'re totally glazed), I overcooked a corner (actually twice) and ended up going straight (otherwise trying to make the corner wouldn\'ve been even more dangerous) through the run off area once and once into the grass. You hear stories about catching a rut and flipping the car.

Next time, I\'d love to join Warren et al. at a lapping day and Max can come out and show us the lines. Free driver\'s ed if you ask me!

Warren, PM me with your next date (if you\'re still into it). Also, how did you mount your cam?

You need to chill the **** out and learn to read and comprehend a sentence without taking it out on a wild tangent. I wasn\'t harsh, I was blunt there is a big difference. I don\'t have to ask him if he is OK, he clearly is. I didn\'t Rip his head off, I offered some very wise advise and supported it with a facts based on experience. I didn\'t laugh at him, and when did I ever claim that I know everything in life? When drip drip time is over for you come back and re-read my post.

While you are concerned about his feelings and how they may be hurt by a few words on the Internet I\'m concerned about the guys life. Track/Lapping days are not a Sunday cruise, IT\'S ****ING DANGEROUS and when you don\'t take it seriously you can DIE or worse kill someone else.

Advice for lapping days;

- Take a high performance/advanced driving course and take as many as you can afford.
- WEAR A HELMET
- Do not use a harness unless you have a roll cage.
- DO NOT RACE people on the track.
- Avoid the idiots, if someone is trying to race you, slow down and let him pass.
- Don\'t drive tired.
- Accept that you are not Alonso.
- Have Fun.

Updated with photos in first post.

In all seriousness, MaxRPM is right - for those who want to go track their car, take a car control course at the least! That was actually the second time I oversteered the car and skidded (braking when i shouldn\'t and not countersteering when i should). Newbiness ... lack of experience. :sarc

Lucky for me the damage is superficial.

I was over confident on that last run. I went into that turn faster than all my previous laps - going about 130km/h ... I think the same speed the *other car was doing when he wiped out. No wheel problems nor anything else but will definitely take the car into a shop to check out.

It was hell fun tho ... and I got in at last minute! Was originally only going to watch and take photos/videos but another guy had backed out and the organizer let me onto the track. :p

Nathan - PM me your email address and I\'ll forward the info to you when I get it

EDIT: Added video links to first post - enjoy!

My tone? Have you ever read your own posts? I briefed through the financial thread, I don\'t see how I was rude/harsh/blunt or anything else but helpful in that thread. Remember it\'s a post on a msg board and not a romance novel and very difficult to post emotions.

I\'m a nice guy, trust me ;), but I will call people on their blatant ignorance and I tend to tell people what I believe they need to hear as opposed to what they want to hear.

Warren, check for other non apparent damage, like bent control arms, rims, or even just a messed up alignment.

MaxRPM

Why you shouldn\'t use a harness in a car withouot a roll cage,

Being strapped in with a regular seat belt sucks, because you move around a lot, specially with leather. A four point harness will help a lot because it keeps you strapped into your seat nice and tight with little movement. Now imagine if you roll over.....badly! Your roof is crushed to almost the door sills and so is your head and upper body. With a regular seatbelt the extra movement that sucks during cornering and braking becomes your best friend in a roll over.

Holy flip man, no pun intended, I was THAT close to flipping my car just like that guy. I\'ve seen this video before actually. Why I didn\'t counter steer, I have no idea! Newbiness :(

Any idea how fast he was going?

Stupid stuff like that only happens to stupid people like me who get over confident (read cocky?) and push it too fast at the end of the day. ;)

Normally it\'d just be a chill day on the track, getting to know your car\'s limits right at the edge, and nothing more.

Don\'t let my bad experience or other people\'s bad experiences throw you off the interest of going to the track with your car. Take it as a lesson and don\'t be a stupid newb. ;)

We really have to go as a group and have some experienced driver show us the lines!

For some reason, I think I\'ll have more respect for the track the second time around. You\'d think it\'d be the opposite... funny.

Pearl_Hatch - don\'t worry about what kind of tranny you have. the group i went with, there was an A3 and a TSX on the track. Both were autos. You\'re there to have fun and push your car in ways you wouldn\'t (or be stupid enough to do) on public roads.

WuD - I\'m sure one of the more experienced people can chime up on where to get a good quality helmet. I wonder if my goalie mask would be sufficient? J/K!!!

CoolColombian - Thanks! Honestly everything was fine and dandy minus the wipe-out! When you\'re hearing your engine roar, it\'s an awesome feeling! Wiping out, obviously, was not fun. Surviving it with only scratches on the car and nothing broken, then it gets to be fun again... until you watch a video of someone else making the same mistake and having worse things happen to their car. :p kidding ... I\'d definitely be up for another track day, BUT I\'ll definitely get myself edumacated first.

It\'s not a toomah!!! I mean tires ... I did about 11 laps prior to my wipe out and I pushed around the corners pretty hard, albeit with bad lines. The tires didn\'t squeal too much but I felt the softness and slight slippage along the pavement while in the corners.

The reason I wiped out is because I didn\'t know how to drift. :D

Wtom, is your bar set to hard or soft? I\'m also running RSA and kept the bar on soft due to low traction of the RSA

btw, once the RSA\'s wear down to the wear indicator, they\'re suprisingly okay. No more squirming around the track. I was able to, or at least keep up with Autoexe who\'s running shaved RT615 (he\'s one damn fast driver).

Glad to know everything is ok. To be honest, you didn\'t do all that bad. We are all noobs, if we were pros, we wouldn\'t be there. Just have fun.

130km/h is pretty quick in that turn. If you took the right line, it shouldn\'t be a problem. The RSX was doing 130+, I like to enter that turn slower and come out quick, usually 120 going in and about 140 at the end before braking for the next turn.

We all had fun, that\'s all that matter. ;)

Ditto.... No problem to hit 140+ at the end of the front straight...it is the turn at the end that gets ya.
I let off at 120...start the turn..then punch it again hitting 140+...then brake hard for the next set.
