Had a lot of fun today! The weather cooperated and it didn\'t start raining until we left. :hoho

If anyone else has pics from the day, feel free to post them here.

And finally...some very worn tires. They grip even better like this.

It was a perfect day weather wise and despite some silly antics on the track a good safe day. Took me a while to get used to driving the 3 at speed and get used to being on the track after being away for two years but near the end \"Stella was starting to get her groove back\"

The RSA\'s did surprisingly well and were very predictable and gave good feedback. Not bad for an All Season tire. The 3 impressed me as well, for an bone stock car it is well balanced. Sure it could used better tires suspension, brakes and more power but after all it\'s just a grocery getter.

Some not so great pictures...

Nice pics both of you! I heard of some of the stupid shiet that was going on by some of the other people there. :sarc

Just a caution to all TM3 peeps interested to join future Battleendless track dates, be careful out there! Some rules get bent.

I didn\'t have any problems...
...3 is a great car going around the track... comfy and fast enough without getting in over your head.

What did you hear of? I was busy lapping (did 40 laps on the long track!) and didn\'t notice anythin out of the ordinary apart from a Civic that ran out onto the grass.

There was some crazy stuff going on, but you didn\'t notice it because you are a newbie ;)

Seriously though, this was a lapping day and not a race day. I saw way to many stupid things that could have caused a serious accident. The BE group is new to track days and they have yet too see a serious accident where someone has written off their car or worse killed someone. So the rules are almost non existent and certainly not enforced.

Some of the shit I saw was;

1 - They let someone onto the track while I was coming down the front straight. He did it early enough so I didn\'t have to slam on my brakes but it is still a no no and it did catch me off guard. In the US, a man died in a Porsche GT because someone let a Ferrari out in front of him as he was coming down he front straight.

2 - No set rules for passing, other then don\'t pass in corners. It\'s not enough to just say that. With more cars on the track it could have been much worse. Specially with the different skill and experience levels. It should be; No passing in corners, no passing on the straights unless you get point by or a signal, signals/point bys need to clarified, the pass must must always be on one side, usually the right side, the person being passed should stay on the line. I saw people pulling to the right on the back straight.

3 - Tailgating, way too much of it. It\'s one thing to do it with your buddy, it\'s another to do it to someone you don\'t know on the track. Ask the black guy with the STi, he was rear ended at previous track day because someone was tail gating and couldn\'t slow down fast enough at the end of the back straight. Ask Neil what it\'s like to have someone sitting on your ass, it\'s not fun for the person in front and just plain reckless.

4 - When the black civic drove deep into the grass, one idiot in a blue 350z pulled over on the side of the track in a corner (the guy they let out in front of me). All that needed to happen was someone staring at the black civic in the grass, miss his turn and t-bone the 350Z. Never ever pull over to help someone, keep driving and pull off into the pits. In fact when I came around again, I saw another Blue Z into the grass beside the civic. Would have been interesting to see a blue z t-bone another blue z.

^^^

Wow, that\'s scary.

The track day I attended (organized by subarism.com) seemed to be very organized (well at least more organized than this).

Best rule: NO PASSING EXCEPT ON THE BACK STRAIGHT AND EVEN THEN ONLY WITH THE CONSENT OF THE DRIVER WHO YOU WANT TO PASS. No exceptions. Even if you were a turtle in the corners, the person behind you could not pass.

Mind you, there appeared to be a number of very aggressive drivers out there, but they appeared to be quite advanced peeps.

First time out to Shannonville, i realize I was new to the track and, as well, I haven\'t participated in a lapping day before. The extent of my experience was in auto-x, where only one car is on the course (depending on the course) at a time, practicing lines on the road (while staying within the lane i\'m in), and a car control school. Having said that, I acknowledge that i was terrible (and i may be beating myself up) in the first few laps, especially that first lap!

That goes without saying, in the next few laps during my first session, some of the faster cars grew tired/frustrated/whatever of following me and proceeded to pass me coming out of the corners. I guess they couldn\'t wait until the straightaway where i indicated to faster cars behind me to pass on the right.

not fun in the sense that, if you let your emotions get to you, you can easily lose concentration and do something stupid yourself. case in point, i took my eyes off the road to check my mirrors to see where this car was, coming into a corner (as he was weaving left and right...looking to pass maybe?!), i braked too late, took a corner too hot, and 2 wheels went into the grass.

best advice i got was to stick to your lines and don\'t put too much focus if there\'s someone being an idiot behind you... it\'s a lapping day, not a race day. which is why i went out when the track didn\'t have many cars.

hmm...who owns a blue Z that was there...hopefully it wasn\'t one of TM3\'s affiliates that parked in the grass. :p

Now, this post isn\'t bashing Battle Endless at all. I had a great time out and plan to do another few this summer... possibly another one with BE as they have the full track booked for the sundays in summer. With every lapping event at every organizer, you will get some kamikazes out there who are arrogant and ignorant to the rules.
