Are my brakes gonzo?
When hitting the brake pedal hard at high speeds (100km +) the steering wheel shakes really bad. Is this a normal thing or time to replace brake pads? The car just hit 66,000km

Could be time for new pads. My dad has his replaced earlier this year and he hadn\'t even hit the mileage that you have. Hopefully, you won\'t need new rotors.

Hey Kitten, Do you feel the shaking only in the steering wheel? or is it also from the brake pedal?

re-bed your pads/rotors... then budget for new rotors and, if necessary, pads.

Just the steering wheel
I do a lot of highway driving but the braking is still excellent

Thats what my first thought was but warped rotors usually is accompanied by a pulsing in the brake pedal.
So to my next question for Kitten.
Have you been feeling any kind of pulsing from the brake pedal? not in the situation you described but when you lightly press the pedal?

Just to throw the idea out there... are your wheels off balance? It might be the braking system, but perhaps the wheel is off balance some other way? missing weights?

Nope... none whatsover.
Say Im crusing at 120km and then I hit traffic - the braking from 120km to like 90km/h the wheel is shaking.
Other times its perfect

Well then I would definitely take the vehicle in asap it could just well be your rotors as mentioned by Majestic and at 60k your probably due for pads, but I suspect there is something else; possibly a steering component or a wheel bearing.Be on the safe side>considering the highway driving and take her in asap.
Please keep us updated,
By the way, you just passed the 60k mark.Is your BtoB warranty up or did you get an extended?
