swales (Jamie) has the same setup as opt. 1.. so, no, they will not rub.

wouldn\'t it depend on how thick the tires are?? for example, if the tires are 45mm (ie, 215/45/17) then they may not rub whereas if you were using the stock tires than they may rub (that was just an example)..

215/45R17 does not mean that the tires \"are 45mm\" :sarc
The \"45\" refers to the aspect ratio of the tires, i.e. 45% of the 215mm width in your 215/45R17 example.
I\'d suggest going with at least a 45mm offset for 7.5\" wide wheels, and preferably 48-50mm.
17X7.5 43 offset
You can go as low as a 40 offset for a 17x7.5 but you would need to run 215/45/17. With 43 you might be able to run 225 but its iffy, if you get an offset 45+ then 225 should not be a problem.
18X7.5 42 offset
Since you are running S-tech Id say get a 45 offset and you would need to run 215 instead of 225 and that should be fine.
I prefer 225/45R17 since I find that 215/45R17 seems to accentuate the wheel gap.

oops.. thanks for clearing that up.. I read a lot about tires before and I thought I understood that number was the thickness (mm was just a guess since the everything else is measured in mm).. oh, and what did u mean by \"aspect ratio\"?? do you mean that the thickness of the tire is 45% of the width?? thanks..

great, I\'m glad that cleared things up.. :sarc
45% of the 215mm width.. so 45% for what?? what does that mean?? just a question.. sheesh.. obviously there\'s some confusion on my part.. that\'s why I asked.. I thought I understood all this after my research on rims and tires but apparently I misunderstood something..
