Havent had an opportunity to ask a legitimate noob questions so here I go:

I am playing with the idea of swapping out my 17s for a set of 18s from a CX7

The rubber says P235-60R18 and no I am not using the rubbers but will the rims fit with some new low profile rubber and what would I go with for the tires?

Please flame away...

OMFG STFU and UTFS you n00b :D

use this (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html) ;)

225/40/18 is a perfect +1 for the 17s we have.. and since the wheels are 18 x 7.5 that size tire will fit NO PROBS!!!

consider yourself flamed :D ;)

Should we not know the Off-set of said rims as well?? If they are +38 or +55, I think you might be out of luck.

Thanx majic,

So I could go with 215/45/18 s?

And then I could get in on the Group Buy (http://torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=6447) for the rubber...

How can you tell that the wheels are 18 x 7.5? again noob...

Lastly how about the look? any comments??

good point.. i found the CX-7 wheel info on msprotege.com

the wheel is:

18X 7 1/2 J 50
So offset = 50

yes but you\'re off by 2.2% (which is ok) vs. 0.1% on 225/40/18

sometimes \'no comment\' might be a comment in itself ;)

Jeff, I don\'t really know how the rims would look on the 3 but my instict is telling me not so good. Why not go for a set of RX-8 18\'s?

ElPietro

I think the stock 17\" rims look sportier than those. Not a fan of that \"Y\" design. Plus will cover up more of the calipers/etc.

Could always go with a hub cap. :D

Just my opinion though, obviously, if you like the rims, then that\'s all that matters. Don\'t buy/not buy because of other people\'s tastes.

Thanx for the imput guys, Forgot that the 2007s come with a lookalike.

I guess I will have to save up for a set of the Special Edition RX8 rims... mmmmm gunmetal grey...

From pics I am still not a fan of the look on the 3... but it might look better in person? Is it a look that would grow on you?

I think your best bet is the RX-8 rims you mentioned :)

Those would be the sweetness.

Jeff we have 2 sets downstairs. I\'ll bring one up to the shop and we\'ll slap it on a 3 and see how it looks.

I\'m not feeling it. After you showed me the Gun Metal RX-8 rims I\'m finding it hard to see the 3 in anything else.

Damn you Jeff.

While you\'re at it slap up the price for the full set with rubber so I can ask for a raise.

I happen to like the new design a lot. They remind me of these rims:

Wouldn\'t the CX 7 rims be alot heavier in order to handle the added weight of the CX 7 vs the M3. There is an 400 kg or greater difference in the curb weight of the two vehicles so the rim is probably more substantial as well. Big penalty in rotational weight.

Nope, the RX-8 rim weighs the same.

Very similar to how mine will look...... Mazda 6 rims on a sedan. Next Saturday! :)

Won't have the same awesome offset of the CX7 rims though.

Do you mean the regular Mz6 17's or the GT's 18's?

I like the cx-7 rims too. Looking good!

Hmmm..now this thread has got me thinking again.

Yea b the 18" MZ6 GT rims w/ that black center cap insert would look aight on your car.

From VW land and Mazda land I still believe that OEM wheel upgrades are the best looking out there and fit the cars 100x better

those rims on the cx7 look really thick, and bulky on the cx7, but they look amazing on the mazda3

Yup, H has the 18" GT MZ6 wheels....from Mazda 6 to Protege 5, now from Protege 5 to MZ3...

i'm not a big fan of the 18" GT...but IMO it looks better than the 07 MZ3's snowfalkes...

Probably Nissan Cima aka Infiniti Q45 projectors.. It's an Axela in that pic, so I assume Cima over Q45
