Hi, I\'m a proud new owner of a 2006 Mazda 3 GT with GFX and luxury package. I know it\'s a bit early and with close to 45 degree heat you may think I am nuts for thinking of winter tires but I would like to get a good deal.
Anyone know what size I would need? (16\" i think) What tires do you recommend and where do you suggest I buy them? I\'m hoping to get a good deal...what can I expect to pay with steel rims as well...

Congrats on the purchase.

I think it\'s too soon to buy snows. Wait until mid October early November for the deals to come out. Search the forums for other members recommendations on tires and wheels.

Any Mazda dealer participating in the Mazda tire program or affiliate tire shop can give you some good prices.

Oh and you will need a minimum size 16\" rim.

let me type like broli

welcome
16s as joe said
bstd fo shizzle my nizzle
everyone
will
tell
you
to get what
they have
b/c they are most
likely happy
with their choices

however, you need to tell us what is most important to you: ice traction, longevity, pimp tire name, ability to haul broli\'s ass, price, deep snow traction, etc etc..

as for what you can
expect to
pay for wheels and snows
$500-$1000+ depending on the above factors.. in fact if you don\'t care much about brand or \'new\' tries, someone just snatched up a set of 4 used tires and wheels for 300bux now that was a highway robberry if you ask me :) the deals will start sometime in sept and once demand increases and supply decreases (first snowfall) the prices will rise accordingly..

decisions decisions :D

I\'m waiting until October for them to go on sale. Right now, you\'ll pay too much.

Thanks majic....
I would definitely buy new tires...being an x-montrealer even though i live in Toronto I still recognize the importance of a decent winter tire.
I have read some of the threads and people mention the Viking? That\'s made by Continental?
Ideally I do mostly city driving...looking for a solid snow tire but one that can still fair well on ice...
How much approx. for a set of 4 Viking with steel rims around sept-oct?

Last year a package like that in 16\" would be around $600-$700+. Expect the prices to go up this year. I will be offering these packages with Mazda OEM steel wheels instead of aftermarket ones.

Also this year Mazda will be bringing out the wheel cover program for those who don\'t like the look of black steelies.

i have no experience with vikings but people seemed to be happy.. the packages will vary from year to year

2 years ago kumho kw17s were all the rage (well performing tire at a very attractive price) next year they went up 100-150 or even more but the place of the inexpensive tires was viking\'s to claim.. so who knows what will happen this fall.. just sit tight and wait but i\'d say $600-700 is the range..

edit: nice one joe ;) you click faster.. damnit!

May I ask what OEM is?? Yeah the Black steelies look sooo stupid on these cars as I\'ve seen them last year... I\'m all for it... approx how much is the tire protection cost average?? thanks in advance..
