Ok, I have gone through about 5 pages of threads in the T&W section and have not found an answer to my querry.

So...here it is :

I own an\\\'06 Sport Gt which I now understand has bigger brakes than the 2.0 Litre models. I would like to get a set of rims to mount snow tires on but I don\\\'t know what will fit on our car. It has the stock 17\\\" rims but I would like to go to a 15\\\" or 16\\\" rim for the snows.

What size will fit? 15\\\"? 16\\\"? Is there a minimum rim size for the GT model?

Will a Protege 5 rim fit?

I know there is a lot to answer here but I figure if I want to know something about this New car I have then I should ask the guys/gals that drive them.

Thanks for any advice.
Chris

Hey man, usually the setup the guys go for is a 205-55-16 tire.
I\'m running on Goodyear Ultragrip Ice as my winters. The 15\' inchers won\'t fit due to the bigger caliper size. Wait a month or two and you will see the deals start to come out!

Myself am using a set of OEM P5 16\' wheels for winter tires, it fits perfect and looks decent. u\'d better look for a set of used P5 wheels in the Toprotege, i guess they go for around $200~$250 a set, which is the identical price of a brand new set 16\' steelies.

Thanks Patrick!!

Mazda 3 GT runs 16\" rims with 205/55/16 tires, the 15\" steelies won\'t clear the bigger brakes.

we are also trying to get some great deals on 15-16\" winter alloys.

we will have pricing up next month (Sept) Thanks you all!!

Hey Tire23

Have you thought about a group buy for TM3 members - maybe in September. I think there are lots of us here looking for snows around Sept/Oct...

usually they just give a set price whether 1 or 21 of us buy the tires.. sometimes they have time/stock limited specials (read clearance.. old models)
