is it normal for your car to jiggle a bit when you start it?

hi, i just got my mazda 3 GT sport automatic on saturday. i\'ve noticed that when i start my car, it jiggles. when i turn off the car it jiggles then too. sounds silly, but it\'s been doing this since i got it.

also, when i put my car into Reverse, from the Park position, it makes a creeky sound. very odd. i am going to call the dealers tomorrow, but just wondering if anyone knows why it does this.

Congrats on the new car.

I noticed the \"jiggle\" too especially at start-up (cold or warm) on my \'05 GT 5spd.
I think I noticed it mainly because other cars I\'ve driven in the past didn\'t shake so much. I don\'t think there\'s anything wrong but go back to your dealer and ask to start-up some other cars in the lot just to re-assure yourself. I don\'t notice it so much now. It\'s either gotten smoother at start-up or I\'ve just become immune to it (probably the latter).

umm could it jiggle b/c the motor goes from 0 to 1000rpm or veice versa and the energy has to be absorbed/transferred/disspated in some way!?! :sarc

unless this is a different jiggle or it\'s verry pronounced.. snap a video of it ;)

the jiggle is quite noticeable. i had my honda del sol for 8 years and it always started smoothly.

the Reverse thing doesn\'t seem normal, i never get it...

I noticed broli\'s mom jiggles when you start her up too.

Everytime I press on the gas, the car moves forward and it makes alot of noise. Anyone else have this problem?

Any unusual vibration compared to another car may be due to the fact that the Mazda 3 has a fairly large 4-cyl engine at 2.3 litres. Four bangers arn\'t known to be vey smooth running engines.
