View Full Version : Somebody stole my stubby

So yeah somebody jacked my stubby antenna today while my car was parked at Don Mills stn. Is nothing sacred? C\'mon you cant afford your own $15 stubby... the nerve of some people :sarc
am i going to have to take my antenna off every fricking time i leave my car? that\'s total BS.
Chuckie
08-09-2006, 12:17 AM
That sucks.
There\'s really nothing we can do though, it\'s left out in the open and comes off in 2 seconds. Noone is going to catch you stealing that kind of stuff either.
Atleast they didn\'t do anything else to your car

Silly (or not so silly) Question:
Is there any way to somehow \"secure\" the stubby so that incidences like these don\'t reoccur?
triplezoom
08-09-2006, 12:28 AM
hmm maybe some kind of superglue? :p
Chuckie
08-09-2006, 12:41 AM
melt the stubby with heat so it bonds with the base creating one piece with superglue already being applied inside.

meh
its going off if people want it . . .
sux but such is life!
if you want a deterent,
smother it is something nasty when you park in messed up places!
sorry jon, that sux!
Chuckie
08-09-2006, 12:50 AM
but what if the thieves try to steal the stubby and then touch the nasty stuff. They\'d get pissed and mark up his car.
Just don\'t use loctite. I tried it before with my first stubby & I put a bit too much on. When I screwed it in it started to spill out on the base of the antenna pod (what you screw it into) and I wiped it off... couldn\'t see any excess. Thought it was all good. The next morning when I went to get in my car I noticed it ate away all the rubber and my antenna pod had become a nasty blob and my antenna was on the ground. Just a FYI.

Got the fishing line back on, don\'t even use the radio anyways. I guess I\'ll have to buy another stubby. Do you have to cut the new ones?

I think this should all be blamed on FLIPSPEED for his comprehensive DIY guide to installing the stubby..
Someone must have read it and stole yours..
Sorry it happened.

Wow, that\'s damn petty. Again, not much you can do, and if it were me I wouldn\'t try gluing the new one on as I tend to remove mine from time to time (car wash for instance).

mine was jacked last monday at Scarb Town Ctr.
I wouldn\'t want to bolt it where it would be hard to remove....them f\'ers might damage the roof when they try to take it off.

Geez..that\'s pretty low. Guessed some people would sell their soul for $13.
As far as making the attena permanent, its just not worth it...risk of damage when using adhesive, damage when someone try to steal it, inability to change/remove..
Shark fin might be a better option but required a bit more work.
For those sticking with the stubby, place a curse on your fin and hope that the lousy thief get their day in hell. <karma>:sarc

Hey don\'t blame it on me. Blame it on all car manufacturers that have stock fishing poles instead of stubbies.
As for me I usually stow my stubby in the glove box when I\'m in a bad area of town.
Shark fin coming soon!

pour tons of hot sauce and tons of chilli powder on it. this is so that after they break even a little bit of sweat trying to remove the 2 sec. stubby, and rub their forehead or eyes, they\'ll be in for a treat. :D
sorry to hear.

^^ haha that is jokes! :hoho
Yeah i\'m not going to bother fixing it in place, if somebody is goin to take it they\'re gonna get it. don\'t want them to damage the car while they\'re at it.
Man, knowing that somebody laid their hands on \"my\" car... ugh feel so violated! Maybe i should pull the whole csi thing and chek for prints... hmmm...

its pretty much the same thing, it\'s a lot where people leave their cars for an extended period of time to go to work.

Yeah the ttc parking garage at don mills.
I don\'t think it\'s that safe over there as the windows in the stair well are always being smashed.
Man don\'t kids have better things to do... shit that\'s the problem with kids these days, they need a role model!

Well I can tell you this Jon, if you see the stubby on other cars you might be able to tell who swiped it.
I basically cleaned out all of the stubby stock at Mazda North America. No other dealers to my knowledge have them in stock.

Yes they do but the base flares out like the Aerio stubby. The CX-7 one is nice and slim no need to trim!:p

just so you know
thefts of cars at go stations are pretty high!
expecially at stations with HUGE lots and only limited train service!
just keep that in mind
i would imagine TTC lots to be a bit safer, generally not a large and not in
as \"middle of nowhere/secluded\" places

Bringing this thread back from the dead because.... you guessed it someone stole my stubby AGAIN!! AAARRRGGG!
First time I've parked at don mills station in months and come back to find my stubby antenna gone... it's not like it was late in the night either, got back to my car at 5:30pm and it was gone.
Apparently people like to steal stubbys from don mills station so if anyone parks there beware! cheap bastards who cant afford a $15 mod... man get a life.

Stubbies on the CX-7 are a little harder to jack since the car is higher. I considered buying extra stubbies just in case. LOL

Are they generic stubbies, or the stubbies from the CX-7? The CX-7 ones are really good quality.

That really sucks about your stubby.... something you might want to try is this stuff called auto goop.... its an adhesive.. comes in black... or clear.... used it on my old civic, when the door frame pieces would coem off just glob it on and squeeze and it holds really really well..... as long as you don't want to take the stubby off... just an idea...
