Dont overlook the fact that most of the people that have gone with forced induction have had tranny problems. Right now there are high hopes for the guy from Australia trying to swap in a Focus tranny...

While I think it would be cool to pick up a hi boost kit, I would advise against it right now. Is your 3 still under warranty? If so, are you willing to give that up in exchange for the boost? Also, the kit isn\'t cheap, and to be honest for that kind of coin I\'d rather sell my current 3, take the hit of depreciation, and buy a Mazdaspeed3. This way you get full warranty, the boost, and a slew of other upgrades ;)

SWEEEEEET SOUND!

The only sound I hear is the sound of your money being syphoned out of your wallet because of all of the premium gas that you now have to buy.

From that vid he wasted 1/2 a tank just revving it.:p

yawn...

you\'re basing your decision on a couple cheesy reving videos???

My exhuast sounded better...without a turbo..

If your going to get the turbo, just wait until the six-speed in the new mazdaspeed3 comes out on the aftermarket and be willing to spend thousands. If your going to do that you figure do i want to spend 10,000 on a turbo and tranny, etc., or do you just trade in for a mazdaspeed3.....it\'s your choice. In the long run, if your patient, there will be so many aftermarket upgrades for the new mazdaspeed3 by next fall it will be rediculous.....and fun.....

Yea, I say wait for the Mazdaspeed3. Or wait for other proven packages.....I wonder if the Volvo tranny will fit? ;)

I don\'t exactly have the money to go out and to this type of mod, but that doesn\'t mean that I haven\'t researched it a little. I checked around, and although it would be sweet to add a turbo to your car, you have to massage your engine quite a bit to get one.

Its cheaper and easier to do an engine swap. So start investigating. Check the price on a Mazdaspeed6 motor, its got more power than the mazdaspeed3 (by a slight margin 10hp I think), look into some of the Volvo engines or euro focus engines. There might be a 2.5L turbo focus motor out in europe!! You could always slide a Mazdaspeed3 motor into your GFX, and you know it will fit. Then you could just get the Mazdaspeed tranny. Check some of these options, they could be more durible and just as potent.

For all that hassle the OP is better off just selling their 3 and buying a Mazdaspeed product or a more performance oriented product from another brand.

True, but certain individuals have already invested a fair amount into they\'re 3s. If you\'ve already setup your 3 with a new suspension for example, while sell your car and pick up an MS 3? An engine swap would be pretty individual. So those of you looking for a turbo, consider the swap because it is potentially cheaper. But if you\'re considering a turbo in the first place then you should consider the MS3.

EDIT: And maybe someone wants a fast sedan not hatchback. Keep in mind its lighter and has a lower centre of gravity ;)

swp with what ? hahaha:p K20 B18 . DOH , its not a honda !!!

new engines are hard to come by . Engines from euroupe are hard to come by .

Just let him do the turbo . The Quebec\'ers already got a few, i think its time tm3 has one

I agree to 3GFX. An engine swap is the best way to go. Installing a turbo is a nice piece, but hard on the pocket because of the other related works that will fully fine ture the car. The Mazdaspeed version is the best option at least you keep the warranty of the vehicle.

Just some in sights though.....:D

heh why not swap a toyota echo motor into the 3 and turbo that :sarc lol they\'ll be plenty of room to work with :p .. lol yeah might as well just wait .. wut happens if i rush into things, void the warranty n then get screwed in the arse. Patience buys you happiness :) .. well... let\'s hope it does :(

Hiboost , do you have any other mods done to the car ?

If you dont have them already, i suggest exhaust (w/ hi-flow cat or test pipe) and a CAI/SRI.

not at the moment. Just got another set of stocl 17intch rims that i got done in a really dark gun metal colour. Looks really sweet, i should take some pix. But First thing id like to do is the exhaust. Im guessing talk to Joe about that one ? then

If you are serious about going the forced induction route then don\'t bother with an exhaust from Joe, you\'ll likely need to do a custom 3\" set-up. I say custom because as far as I know there are no aftermarket pre-made exhausts for the Mazda3 with a 3\" diameter.

Yup better go 3\" or go home. Custom work is the key!

Yes there is one option (http://www.trubendz.com/home.asp?producttype=exhaust&productfor=mazda3_cat &productid=1612838&pagetype=detail) for a 3\" exhaust premade for the 3, but with the HiBoost turbo kit and a 2.5\" exhaust with high flow cat like the Vibrant he\'ll get arround 250hp, with the stock exhaust 215hp and with a 3\" exhaust prob. 265hp at safe 8 psi.

yup, i think trubendz is the only one with a 3\" out . I heard some good stuff about them .

in the end.. WHY??

Just get the MazdaSpeed. Save yourself money and get a full warrenty.

Those kits were for the people who couldn\'t wait. Now just go buy the real deal.

maybe he wants to make it a \"sleeper\" ... wait, then again, he like the spooling sound and will probably end up getting a blow-off valve too :sarc
