View Full Version : Ambient Temp Reactivated

Well as most of you know I have a 2004 Mazda3 Sport... 2004\'s didn\'t come with the Ambient Temperature Sensor.
For the last two and a half years the third section of my LCD dash has been empty, until I put my \"mazda3\" transparancy there.
Now, I have the AMB icon show up in that third section, with a temp reading of \"-- C\".
I\'ve seen this before on Mazda3 Forums, but I never read a solution on it. The car is obviously enabling the Ambient temperature sensor feature of the car, but there\'s no sensor, hence the -- reading.
How do I fix it? Can Mazda just flash something and fix it?

Why try and get rid of it......I\'d be looking for a way to add the sensor and have the AMB actually work!

No I added the clear plastic film with \"mazda3\" on it to fill the void (because the ambient temp reading never existed, the area was blank). Now the AMB -- reading popped up in the space after 2 years of NOT being there.
I want to know how to a) get rid of it or b) get the sensor into my car so I have an actual AMB reading. I don\'t think the latter is possible because (from what I\'ve read on different forums) in order for it to work I have to buy the sensor, install it and re-program the ECU to read it. I think option A is probably the easiest way to do it.
The only solution I\'ve heard of is taking the car back to dealer service where they can \"fix\" things.

Normally this is dealt with during the PDI, I find it weird that it came back.. Drop by the dealership to have the HU flashed.

First time I\'ve heard about this for a non 06 model.

The current official resolution for this problem:
http://www.finishlineperformance.com/mazda3/docs/0020.pdf
There was a previous resolution, which I believe was to disconnect the battery for the headunit to reset.

Still nothing on the 06 clocks running ahead of the actual time.

The other day I got AMB --- pop up on my HU
Can anyone verify disconnecting the battery will get rid of it?

Pulling the 15A ROOM fuse (slot F31) under the hood should be easier.

So take out and put it back in ?
is the fuse for the radio?

Pull it out, wait a couple of minutes and then reinsert. Apparently, yes, it is the fuse for the radio.
