225/45/17 is better then 215/45/17 for speedometer reading (not by much), has anyone tried 225/45/17 dropped with any issues let me know.

My friend has 225/45/17 on 45mm offset wheels and is lowered on eibach prokit without any issues. Might rub when turning the steering wheel to full lock, but I'll have to ask him again. He also said that his turn-in and steering response is better than previous 215/45/17 he had on. Mind you, that prev tires were Falken ST115 and current ones are Kumho Ecsta SPT

ok what is the stock rim offset?

Would I be looking at any issues with a 42mm offset rim?

Those of you with 18" rims, what size and offset are your rims and tires?

All 3 stock wheels have 52.5mm offset.

Some rub with 225/45/17 while some don't.* Rim offset, drop and model of tire (I remember Autoexe's Falkens' are wider than his Toyos', both 225) are the factor.* You may tell us the offset and what kind of springs/coilovers you've (or planning to get).

I've 215/45/17 on 17x7 with 45mm offset plus H-Tech drop. No rubbing issue and I'm pretty sure I can put on 225 without problem.

Well its between prokit and h-tech and maybe Mazda speed. I'm not sure what the offset is, there website doesn't even say, i'll have to contact John about that one......... the rims are BSA 345 17" x7

Missed this thread!

They are a 40mm. I would Recommend a 215/45/17 and you wont have any issues rubbing ;)

The rims I'm looking at are 42mm offset and I plan to get prokits (planning a 1" drop).

225/40/18...Will they rub? Should I get the fenders rolled? and how much will that set me back ???

or

215/45/18...Seems to be clear, but is that a good tire size? Will I have any rub?

Your speedo might go off of whack because my tires currently are 215/45R17 45mm offset no drop
if your wanted to go with 215s then i would suggest a 35 or 40 series tire

215/40/18 should be fine 215/45/18 defeats the purpose of going down to 215 because you are increasing the amount of side wall

Hey,
i just got new tires today and i ended up getting 225/45r17 and no rubbing at all so far. I do not have a drop though but i have a more accurate reading with these tires then with my 215's. You were right my previous message that i posted can be disregarded
