Hello everybody,
have just received my compustar 2wfmas alarm and starter with 2way paging capability. I have aquired the sheets for what wires have to be tapped in to to mke the starter and alarm work. Now the dilemma i am having is what are the 2 rlays for and where do these wires get hooked up to? It doesnt say anything in the instal manual and says nothing on compustars website. I have been searching info on this in the last 2 days and have posted on the mazda3forums.com but have had no luck in finding out what i need. The compustar website has no further help i need. What can i do?
If anybody has any idea can you please help me out?
thanks

I can't help you... but I know one of these shops can help you if you are really stuck.

1) Lockdown... if you are closer to Toronto.
2) Keith's Stereo... if you are closer to Burlington.

You might have done it already, but have you asked Compustar yet?

Business hours! Doh! I can understand that. I wouldn't want to be calling some 24/7 call center for tech support on an alarm system anyway. That's just asking for a can of worms. Good luck with the install. Just read about that alarm and it is one kick ass system. How much did you pay for it?

Hey XG3,
ic ic thats cool. I have all the wires hooked up already just i dont know what the relays are for. This might be alot to ask but do you think you could take pics of what the relays were hooked up to and send me them privatley?
What woulbe be even better would be if your friend could get me a diagram of what the relays are to be hooked up to that would be the best because in the instructions they dont say anythign about that.
If you were to take pics please do not post them up on this site for your safety and mine. If someone would see those then our cars would be at risk and i really dont feel like being held responsible.

The relays are for:

Relay ONE (has red/white, purple, blue wires coming out of it) is for any extra accessories such as trunk release, second ignition, second starter etc.etc. It is not a necessity for the Mazda3

Relay TWO (has yellow, yellow/black, red, purple wires coming out of it) is the starter kill relay. This is optional. if you want starter kill (basically kills the starter when armed) then hook it up, if not chop it off.

I don't want to get too technical here, as I really do not want to be responsible for damge you do wiring a complex system like this yourself. It is totally possible for a DIY to do this type of install, it's just very risky if you do not know specifically what you are doing.

Compustar install manuals are very vague, but in my opinion that is a good thing as they really are something that should be left to a professional to install. There really is too much risk for the average DIY to seriously damage the electrical systems on their vehicle.

Good luck My-Mazda3!

Thanks for the breakthrough LOCKDOWN. I ended up installing this unit a couple of days ago and left the relays out like you said. Just when i press the starter the car doesnt start so im up for some diagnosing. My current issue is the car gets setup for the reservation mode i get out of the car and the car shuts down after the 2 minutes. But the car doesnt start when i command it to. Im thinking it has something to do with the domelight but i will be looking in to that over the weekend. If it really comes down to a screeching halt then i will be seeking professional help and i do know your shop I have been there before.
Thanks
