A little late to the party, but Mazda Canada finally catching up. ;)

Looking at that blue on the US site, it looks pretty boring. They should have used the electric blue they had last year. That colour is hot!

The pearl white is probably the way to go. It's the only colour that's exclusive to Canada... though that will probably change too.

How many cars are they planning to produce for the Feb 2007 production run?

I don't understand all the monkeying around with the colours.

Damn... just make all the colours all the time. Let people get what they want... not just what happens to be around when they're ready to buy.

Mazda is strange with their paints. It amuses me that if you don't want to pay a couple hundred bucks extra, the only colour you can have this year is purple.

I LOVE the MSP orange!!

I really dig the metallic red they used on the Mazdaspeed MX5 as well. That's actually what I thought the MSP3 had until I saw it in person and found it to just be red with no pearl or metallic or anything.

It was called Spicy Orange.. and +1 that has to be the best colour I have seen come from Mazda.

No sunroofs announced yet. Navi is available in the US, but the pricing is out to lunch, and the unit itself may have some issues according to posts on M3F....

I find that OEM nav systems here almost always cost at least 3x what they're worth.* It's a shame.* People use nav systems all over Europe yet here they seem to think it's just a great way to fleece the customers.

As for the Sunroof...* I seem to recall reading somewhere that there's extra bracing in the roof, which is why there's no sunroof.* No idea if there's any fact behind that though.

Funny...* I test drove a 3 wagon and found myself hitting my head on the roof.* I found the whole thing really bizarre since I'm really not all that tall and started wondering just how much head space they'd sacrificed to put in the sunroof!

Then I realized that the seat was just adjusted all gimpy and jacked way up.* ;D

What's a 3 wagon?

It's what you'd get if you took a 3 sedan, extended the roofline back, put a lifting hatch on the rear and a window over the cargo area on the sides. ;D

Now let's not get off topic here...

Ah I see. But you are missing the most important part - an extended cargo area. Obviously, this vehicle does not exist since there is only a 3 sedan and hatchback with a shortened cargo area.

Wild Weasel
11-08-2006, 03:53 PM
An extended cargo area is not the defining feature of a wagon.

Once again... the definitions and destinctions are quite fuzzy and neither are to the exclusion of the other.

Thus, there IS a 3 wagon, you own one, this conversation is about one, and this argument has nothing to do with either. ;D

The cargo area DOES define what is a w agon or hatchback. If it is extended, then it is a w agon. To ignore this fact is wrong.

A window over the cargo area does not define what is a w agon or hatchback. The ZX5 has a window over the cargo area.

The Mazda 3 Sport does NOT look like a w agon. The Ford Focus ZX5 does NOT look like a w agon. The Ford focus w agon DOES look like a w agon. You keep saying that the ZX5 is some kind of exception or "paradox", which is ridiculous. The ZX5 and the Mazda 3 hatchback are practically the same car. No one would ever call the ZX5 a station w agon. In fact the ZX5 is derived from the Mazda 3 hatchback.

The Mazda 3 Sport has a solid rear decklid over the cargo area that retracts open when the hatch is opened. This is a hatchback trait. What station w agons have this?

The ONLY thing that would make any sense if the Mazda 3 Sport were a station w agon is that there is no such thing as a 5-door hatchback - all such vehicles are station w agons. I refuse to believe this.

What differentiates a station w agon compared to it's sedan version? The cargo area. Excluding this from the definition is just plain wrong. Excluding it from the definition of a hatchback is wrong too.

And you are the one who brought this up by circumventing the forum filters. You could have easily called it a hatchback or a 5-door. I refuse to buy into your interpretation. :P

And this has nothing to do with whether calling it a hatchback is "cool" or not. A station w agon always has an extended cargo area - it is built for carrying more cargo. The 3 Sport cannot carry more cargo horizontally than the sedan.

Sorry, you know I respect your opinions, but on this issue I 100% disagree with you. Peace out. :P

What I recall is that Mazda did not want to remove or move an existing brace for integrity (which they do presently to enable space for* a sunroof) ...and considering the engineering and money they spent strengthening the subframe I don't blame them....Sunroofs are nice but I don't think you want your vehicle creeking like nuts in 5 years!. But who knows they might be able to engineer it in, in the future.

So a w agon can only exist if it has a shorter sedan counterpart?

What if the 3 sedan didn't exist?

Is the Pontiac Vibe a hatch or a w agon?
