Where's the best joints?

I like:

Go For Tea (Hwy 7/Leslie) - great tea and great decor; average service
Ten Ren (Hwy 7/Leslie) - good tea; okay decor; average service
Joint in First Markham - can't remember the name... - good tea; old decor; good service

Please chime in if you have favs and ratings. If you don't know what bubble tea is, then get your arse out and try it. It's typically some flavoured tea with scoops of frog eggs at the bottom. It's especially delicious when the frog eggs are maturing into the tadpole phase. Mmmmmmmmmm

I am going on a bubble tea junket, so your reviews are appreciated!!!

hehehe i was just kidding. I don't even know exactly which/where Bubble Tease is. If anything it's one of those dumb kiosks in the non-asian malls.

I was referring to expectations of scantly clad asian chicks in short skirts, bikinis, what not ... serving BBT.

HEY there's an idea! BBT strip joint. ;D

the place in first markham you are talking about i believe is called a Place for Us or something like that or Just a Place for Us... some stupid name like that.

The place I always went to when i did do the tea thing was 168... they have one in Commerce Gate as well...

I agree Ten Ren is decent.

Sorry can't add any more as I would go to 168 because we knew the owner... so service was a little better than expected.

Try the Embyro Barley at Tein Ren, it's quite good. I think it's one of their recommended selections.

168 near North York Centre is a bit watered down and the guy that made it for us put the spoon in his mouth and then again into the mixer. wtf is with that? Service was that great either as we sat there and ordered some stuff to snack on.

This korean place at the corner of Yonge & Finch is pretty good. Can't remember the name for the life of me.

lol

i would have ot agree with GFT and tenren (love ten ren for its very nice atmosphere, not cramped like every other god damn bubble tea place)

in addition, a place for us in FMP.

those are my usual 3 hideouts =D

all 3 have wifi and are pretty quiet during the weekdays

What's the actual COST of a cup of BBT anyways, with just tapioca? I take it these clowns are making huge profits off the BBT maniacs? ;)

Assuming the cost is the same ... we're looking at $3.99+tax+tip (small BBT, no add-ins) vs $1.55 (?) tax-in for an XL coffee.

That works out to over three times the cost (profit, assuming) ...

Farking BBT ppl are so gullible. Most of them look like the poseur type too with the clothes, the hair, the cell phones, the cars ...* they jump on any fad bandwaggon. ::)* so what's the newest cool mod for our cars guys?

Just remembered that Yonge/Finch place = Green's. Very good, but it's been years since I've been there.

Just went to Tea Shop 168 and Tea Destiny (both in Commerce Gate and right next to each other!). Nothing worse than sucking on soft balls. I like 'em firm and chewy .... bwahahaha :P

The yonge/finch place says soban in the front. Maybe it's the same place? It's right at the SW corner of the intersection. Haven't been there in awhile since it's been colder.

I went to both TeaShop 168 on Yonge and the one on College, both places had balls that were soft and chewy.* ;D

But I find it's not consistantly throughout the whole diameter, the core seems more rubbery to me.

Ah, a learned BBT'er you are. Your senses and palate are so refined now that you can distringuish between the many layers of a bubble tea ball. The next level is to try to discern in which year, region and province of China or Taiwan the bubble in question was made. My personal fave is a 2005 Taichung bubble... good firm uniform structure, bursts of of tapioca flavour with hints of sweetness throughout if made properly.

Actually, that little female/male indicator you see on the left denotes your sexual preference. :o
