I experience wheel hop, is this a common problem, is there a solution?
Also get a loud clunk in front suspension when power shifting, anyone else?

You can let up on the gas, but that's no fun right?
Are you on the stock RSAs? change the tires. I switched over to winter tires and they perform way better than stockers.
There was something else you can do but I forgot...

Wheel hop is common on our car. Soft engine mounts. You can get stiffer engine mounts, springs/shocks. There's also the Engine Torque Damper developed by SCI (http://www.sportcompactindustries.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_7&products_id=43&zenid=bb196a6ea07004afc3eb046eceb62427)

of course...didn't you know that the engine has so much torque that it causes clunks in the back...get a sway bar to keep the car from pretzeling itself :D

I drive a 04 auto 2.0 sedan. Use to hop too.
I put on toyo proxes 4 and the wheel hop almost entirely went away! Then I put the prokit on and I can't remember the last time I had wheel hop!
what is this wheel hop ???
Edit: ohh never mind my speed has that also Grrr sucks >:(
A swaybar seems to be the cheapest fix that helps many handling problems. Grippier tires will equate to more wheel hop. It might not happen as often because the tires will grip better. There is a fine line between grip and wheelspin, that line is wheel hop.
Winter tires are not advantages, they are easier to spin which reduces the chances of wheel hop.

i'm gonna try either that ETD and/or rear mounts....i need a good balance between stiff/soft....i don't want my car to vibrate my fillings loose.

ohh never mind* my speed has that also Grrr sucks* *>:(
Mazda used the exact mounts from the regular 3 in the MS3* :'( ...part numbers match
OMFG how stupid can they be?
The mounts in my 3 were horrible...every single one was replaced because I would always bounce off of them on downshifts...so it would almost buck every now and then...wheelhop was a never-edning battle....they were inadequate in the 150HP 135TQ Mazda3...I can't imagine how bad they are in the MS3 ....that should have been Day 1...mod #1 eheheheh

He's ordering stiffer rear mounts so I guess it is mod #1.

Have that problem all the time.
Limited Slip Differential solves the problem. Or get a Speed 3.
