View Full Version : Cover under the car, cracked?
I just noticed a couple of days ago, when reversing out of my driveway, that my car was making a weird notice. I stopped, looked under, and the bottom cover under the engine was broken off! Which is weird, because i don't remember going over anything that could do that. I tried bolting it back on so it doesn't drag on the floor, but it is still cracked. Is this worth repairing? Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to replace that piece of plastic. I've also noticed that my fog lights are cracked!!! stupidd stones from the highway!

$119 for the cover ..... go back to the place that did ur oil change cus there are the only ppl to mess with that cover
IIRC the under-engine splash shield (the big piece; there are three pieces total - main large piece and then one front/corner shield on each side) is like $150.

The only place i get my oil change is with the dealership :S lol.
AH so much for the cover. Should i be replacing this or as long as its stuck up and not touching the ground, is that ok?

Dealer cracked my friend's splash guard and fixed it for him... they duct taped it together! lol
You can try that yourself if you don't care to spend time at the dealer for it. If it can't be repaired with tape, they should replace it. (i hope)
duct taped ??? what kind of getto shop is that

What did u end up telling them? Because wouldn't they just say, u must of did it.. blah blah blah. I got it at the old avanta mazda, north town mazda now. HA i tried duct taping it back, but the oil was preventing it from sticking :( I couldn't reach under the car properly to really stick it in. and plus, the ground was freezing! lol lying down on the ice!
Yep mine had to be replaced too. My invoice for the lower splash shield was $119.49 the fasteners were $2.04 + labour. I had more stuff done on this day so I can't break down the labour cost.
Anything you ever need to fix... I've probably done it... I've got almost 40 pages of invoices! Ask away!

Maybe you can find one for cheap at a junkyard.
AHH no itz not like that, thank god!
The cover, the screws came off on the right side [when facing the car]
Which made the cover fall down, and when i reversed, it cracked it. I found other screws to keep it up for now, but there is a long crack down the middle of it, [from the right to the left side, about 3/4s all the way]

Exactly like how mine happened. I only noticed when mine was scraping on the ground. The metal straps above the shield were scraping on the ground.
