Hello,

I had a used HID Kit installed and I heard some strange noises today. I would swear it's from stuff vibrating and not being secured properly but there is nothing really touching any metal/plastic that isn't tied down tightly.

Nothing is in reach of the moving parts of the engine but once in a while I can hear rattling or "whipping". It ONLY started today.

There is also a high pitched hum comming from one side of the car? Anyone have any clues?

Check and see if all your ballasts are secure. The wiring is not hitting any moving engine parts. Maybe you moved something out of it's place?

The only thing moved was the engine cover so we could tie the ballasts down to the front. Other then that I can't think of anything. The major "strange" noises stopped after I opened the hood and tucked in everything I could see that was loose. But the engine doesn't sound normal when it runs.

Nothing sounds out of place when I step on the gas though. It just sounds weird.

Did you mount one of the ballasts near the power steering pump? If so, that's your problem. Try relocating the ballasts.

Power steering? We mounted them in the front of engine almost. Driver side almsot under the air intake for the battery and the passanger side infront of the left side of the engine.

How does the ballast affect the Power Steering pump?

Drove from home to work, no lights on. No strange noises but I was still not awake yet. I'll see what happens tonight. I honestly think it's vibration noizes or my car is telling me i need to change my engine oil.

The ballasts do make a whining noise. Try turning your HIDs on then running out to the front of your car. The color should shift as it warms up in conjunction with the tone of the whine.

Should one whine louder then the other one though? And the noise i'm hearing is a whipping noise/engine noise.

Do you have a digital camera? Take a 30 second video clip and post it up so we can all see/listen to the sound.

No more noises, passenger side's HID is completely out now. Going to try to switch ballasts on thursday to see if it's a bulb issue or not.
