Hey Guys,

I don't know if any of you guys are having this problem. I have a 2006 Mazda 3 GS and it seems like the heat in the car is not running well. It takes to long for the car to heat up inside the temp. gauge reads fine but the heat is a little to weak. Also when I do have the heat on I always here the compressor kick in all the time even though the AC is not on.

Can you tell me if that is a known issue or I should look into having it checked out.

Much appreciated

Hey there.

Have you had this issue since you first got the car? If so it might be normal, though I haven't noticed it on my own car. You might want to try recirc mode, you should find the car heats up quicker with it on, not having to take outside constant cold air and heat it up.

As far as the compressor kicking in, that is done by manufacturers to ensure that the compressor gets regular activity to avoid issues of it sitting around doing nothing for 6 months of the year. Most cars seem to have it kick in only in defrost mode, but it sure seems to kick in in other modes on my car.

Overall, probably nothing to worry about, but you may want to have the dealership check it all out next time you go in for service.

the AC kicks in when the dial is set from 'feet' all the way to the 'windshield'

read more on how people get their cars warmed up here (http://torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=8517&highlight=extreme+cold) and here (http://torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=8318&highlight=extreme+cold)

there are probably more threads so just search..

Majic is right, Keep the dial to the left of 12:00 o'clock as much as possible, that way your A/C will not come on, read your manual.
I have a 05 and have no problems with heat, but than again I rarely drive it during winter months..

it's still a good idea to give your A/C a workout in the winter to keep things lubed.. also, whenever your windows fog up (happens all the time after hockey) i drive with the windows down for a bit ;) and then put the dial to windshield and the AC clears things up nicely

Back to the original question:

Take it in since it is under warranty. Sounds like you have a bad thermostat.

Also check to make sure the rad fluid is topped up.
