I haven't been doing much research on them, but I know that they are
1) Very light (in 225/45/17) compared to other tires of the same size
2) Used on a lot of sports cars

Pilots are always the best, but they can be pricey. I think these would be awesome.

Pilots are recognized as one of if not the best UHP tire. Car and Driver picked it as #1 in there last article.

I actually just bought a set of the Pilot Sports new for an amazing price on eBay. Even though these original Pilot Sports have been replaced by the PS2s, they are still pretty expensive. There are other tires I would want to try before these, but I got these for much much less than even Hankooks would cost, so I couldn't pass up the deal. I'll let you know how they perform after my winter tires come off.

I haven't personally, but several of my friends have them and love them and may I add, on much more powerful vehicles than our 3's.But I would think they are overkill and you must also realize you will be forced to change to snow tires much earlier in the year because of the combounds used...Have you checked to see if they carry the Pilot Exalto A/S? ...pretty close on the traction/stability/cornering numbers, but with different compounds and most likely much cheaper.

I'm in the same boat as you. I just picked up a set of Pilots second hand and can't wait to put them on the car. Came off the front end of a G35.

My buddy at work has them on his g (they are stock) and says they are pretty good.

I had Pilots on the Miata and now have PS2s on the bimmer. Great tire. So sticky.

I've always been a proponent of getting the best tires you can afford, so I don't believe in tires being overkill. Not so you can street race, but because at the limits they'll outperform your regular all-seasons. In emergency braking, these will stop much faster than crappy tires. In emergency situations, these'll be more stable than crappy tires...

In any event, back to the tire... Great tire, even the regular Pilot Sport. Quiet and stable at super high speeds. I think they wear fast though...

I couldn't agree more. And on top of that, get a good set of winter tires.

unless of course you're a good driver then a no-season tire will suffice :loco :bang
