Engine Light Came on...:(

Guys,

I had my Power steering pump replaced under warranty 2 weeks ago.

Yesterday evening while coming back from my inlaws place, the Engine Light came on.

I am taking my car to Avante on wedneseday for check up.

i think it likes to come on just to make sure the light that lights up that portion of the cluster works!

Id bet you got a bad O2 sensor ;) It will eventually stay on for good.....

oh i can bet you the same....its been re-tapped cause the threads were stripped off it once already :P

Wifey now tells me that she might not have tighten the Gas CAP after filling the gas ( these womennnnnn.........hunnnnnnnhh).

Anyway, lets see what it is.

Just came back from Avante.

"Purge( or Perge ) valve Solenoid assembly was the culprit. They replaced it and its all good. They also reset the PCM ( ?????).

One hour and 10 mins and i was out of there. Friendly folks. I dealt with Anthony. One thing i found odd is that they wanted to see my Registration/ownership of the car as this is the first time i was dealing with them. They said its just for there records. As fas as i recollect, I have never gone through this process with any dealership.

They made me do that @ erin mills mazda too. I remember I thought it was weird at the time also... but I went along with it...

When ever I go to a new dealer they always do that... I think its a way for them to put you in the system.

Guys when you go into a dealer you havent been to before you should expect to have them ask your for your ownership and registration to not only input you into their database but to ensure that the vehicle is yours and that you have authority of telling them what repairs you want them to do. Its a formality really because I dont think anyone is stupid enough to enter a dealer with a vehicle they dont own. Thats why theres a small garage market lol.

PCM = Power Module Control...

.... to avoid engine lights if there is any course to take its to maintain the vehicle... make sure it warms up in the morning before driving... and most of all stay up to date with your oil changes... Sounds simple enough but alot of people tend to neglect their vehicle, which in the end causes stress on the engine because the oil lubricating the engine is dirty. So as i have advised in the past make sure your going in for an L.O.F (Lube Oil Filter) every 8,000km or 3 months....

PS Have the service advisor check for any outstanding Recalls.. There is one pertaining to the PCM and its an Update soooo check on that one guys.
