so i had this car stalling problem as described here (http://torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?p=159197)

decided to bring in to MoT as i really didn't have much of a choice.. if it was to be covered under warranty then it would get taken care of and if not, well i guess might as well pay them than other dealer..

I called on Saturday and Vince was able to book me in for monday.. not bad.. but when i dropped the car off at 7:30AM i was scared :P b/c Joe wasn't in and Jeff, well he was sleeping :D

I was the first person in the service area.. then a guy walked in and this older woman.. this was all at 7:20 or so, so service folks were just getting their coffee.. i ren back to the car to pick up my bag for the day and as i came back in Vince and the older white guy were settling in.. "who's next?" .. the guy walks over to the counter and the lady says "he was here first then me".. lol WTF!? it was a bit early to put up a fight so i didn't but gave her 'the look' and she let me go ahead.. lol..

anyway, i left the car keys with the silver haired white guy and said 'pleeease call me if there's work to be done that is gonna make me bend over'

i got dropped off at finch and took teh subway to work.. man.. i LOVE THE w810i!!!!!! i was listening to mp3s AND playing games on it at the same time!!! :bana2

anyway.. i called jeff at 2:05PM (he barely settled in) as i haven't heard from the service dept.. and was worried i'd be footing a huge bill w/o being mentally and physically (lube) prepared.. after 2 rounds of phone tag i was 'it' and Jeff announced the great news..

"it was all warranty work.." after that i tuned out ;) "it was the purge valve which was not holding pressure and it was replace and the ECU was flashed with some updates" They were swamped at service but i was on their 'to call list' so no biggie there..

:bana :werd good shit.. i was happy.. i got picked up at finch again.. spent a good chunk of time talking to the dude behind the glass in the corner office (aka Jeff) and bought some 50/50 tickets..
GET YOURS NOW.. CLICK on the link in my sig..

/plug

the car isn't stalling anymore.. w00t.. the shifts are MUCH SMOOTHER.. from stand-still to 1st and 1st to 2nd.. and fuel economy seems to be improved too (maybe MK's car WAS flashed and that's how she's boasting those numbers)

anyway.. props to MoT for figuring out wtf was up with my car and fixing it promptly.. i will report back on my fuel economy after another tank or 2.. :hawt

Purge valve again? Thats what they changed on my car after 3 tiems no start. And +1 for MOT service becasue after getting my car warrantied and just about to drive out the parking lot, i found werid noise under my hood. Then quickly called the service guy to come out and guess what? More warranty work. Tensioning clip needs ot be changed, pulley changed, belt changed. They worked fast cause they know i'm waiting for it and then now the car have no problems (touch wood).

I'm astonished! I'm at nearly half tank and have only about 170km.... Something is seriously wrong with my car!

+1 for MOT though!

Glad it worked out for you. Gotta love technology and allowing us to be entertained while we wait around for stuff. MoT is tops. If I have to do any major work I'm making the trip.

Does anyone know if this purge valve solenoid can be replaced on our own or is it a dealership fix. My car is so bad that I don't know if I could make it in to a dealership.

I had this replaced at 65443KM and it is gone again at 85K. Mind you it may be something else... but it is the exact same symptoms as before when I had it done.

According to this,
http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=8416&highlight=purge+valve+solenoid
It can be replaced under warranty

If you have time, maybe read this

and see if your symptoms are similar to anyone else.

under extended warranty? if not how much?

I am going in to get one installed tomorrow & I am off warranty. On the phone they quoted me $220 for the part and approx an hour of labour. I'll post the final total when I get the paperwork.
