View Full Version : Ghey car mods.....which is the worst?

TheProfessor
04-04-2007, 10:26 AM
So a friend and I were arguing over what we believed to be the most fugly ghey car mods we've seen:

1) hubcap spinners
2) labmo door conversions
3) light up washer nozzles
4) unpainted body kits
5) putting Type R stickers on anything but a Type R
6) single windshield wiper arm
7) light up pedals
8) ...

What am I missing?

tire lettering paint

What's that?

I know I'm gonna get flamed by a few ppl here but I have to say it ... retrofitting or DIY-ing obvious mods that belong to higher-end cars (almost proprietary) to fit on your econo-box. *puts on heat-resistant bullet-proof suit

You can buy paint for tires, so for example if you want white letters or white wall you can do it yourself. I'm really not a fan. If you want white walls or white lettering, just buy a tire that has it. (not nescessarily sport compact guys)

Oooh, I forgot about the people who paint their hoods black to fake carbon fibre.....that's a good one (i.e. quite pathetic).

this is more ghetto than ghey, but those that buy only 2 rims and floss it until they can afford the other 2...often times riding with black steelies on the non-drive wheels.

wtom
04-04-2007, 10:42 AM
WTF ... in that case ... basically any ghey mods that make your econo box look like a wannabe luxury/highend car!

EDIT: Love how ricer related threads have the most traffic :D

That was relaly tough, they are all Fugly

My vote goes to hubcap spinners. Although, light up pedals(especially when powered by 9 volt battery), is very close.

You guys missed one......

The bench table spoilers.....Its never too small for a Wing...

wtom
04-04-2007, 10:47 AM
Hey Ami there use to be a Sentra parked out in the garage over near where you sit that had chrome hubcap spinners! After two weeks here, I noticed the spinner portion was taken off! Hahahahaha

The thing about wings is that large ones can actually come stock! Albeit an upgrade of course. More particularly should be those airplane wing spoilers! The aluminum ones ... ;)

Or sh!tboxes with Supra-wannabe spoilers.

Also add HUGE catfish grilles with wannabe FMIC openings...

Nothing wrong with mods that improve the car. That's why you SHOULD mod it. To make it better!

I'm gonna say anything that involves fake carbon fibre or anything else pretending to be something its not.

Also, anything that makes the car worse than originally designed for any reason.

This includes things like putting springs on dampers that can't handle them, cutting springs, putting in aftermarket steering wheels with no airbags, removing DRL's, etc.

Wild Weasel

OMG!! I've never seen those fake caliper covers before. That's hilarious!!!

As for all the "lighted this", "lighted that" stuff... individually, most of it is pretty ghetto but if you've done some quality lighting mods and can flip a switch and have the whole car light up like the Las Vegas strip, I think that can be cool as hell. It's just very rarely done well.

And I like underglow lighting, so long as none of the light sources are actually visible.

As for seat belt pads... hey... some people like them and find them more comfortable. Nothing wrong with that. I've got one on the passenger side in my car and one in the back, because my wife likes them and sits in either of those locations on a regular basis.

Stupid gimmicky mods like furry steering wheel covers really aren't in the spirit of this thread, are they? I mean... that's all about personal preference and doesn't really hurt anything. I don't think of them as having anything to do with automotive styling but, rather, as a personal style statement from the person who owns the car. So they really like Hello Kitty. Whatever.

Fire extinguisher in the trunk is a great idea. I keep telling myself to get one and just haven't got to it yet.

Fire extinguisher on the A-pillar is a head injury just waiting to happen. If you're going to put it in the cabin, it should be mounted on the floor somewhere so you can get to it conveniently, but it won't become a projectile in a crash.

unibrows are dead sexy meth!
u hater!

lol

let me clarify on underglow, if ur car has no body kit . . . dont put on underglow kits,

if u have a body kit, and the underglow goes with the car, maybe it is ok, particularly on a show car.

even if u can have mulitple colours . . please pick one!!

and of course do not let the light sources be visible!

I'm a fan of properly done lambo doors, not gonna lie. What bothers me is when there is only one :p. I've heard of a guy who pulled up to a timmies and opens his lambo door and gets out. His gf on the other hand has to get out the regular door.

Nothing wrong with the stereo if that's all the guy cares about. If they don't give a rat's ass about the car but like to enjoy their tunes, then that's the way to go, right?

As for the lambo doors... my problem with them is that for the most part, they're a hassle to use and nothing but a big inconvenience. This goes in my category of mods that are downgrades for the car.

If someone had some that worked like a real exotic... you pulled the handle and they went up like butter with no effort, then I'd be impressed. Most of them however are far from that. You have to push them out slightly, then lift them up enough that the strut helps out. Then to close them, you have to bring it down most of the way, then make sure it's lined up, then close the door normally. It's stupid and annoying.

---The Turbo Air filter that doesnt do 5hit!!!
---The fake a-pillar that has a compass a clock, and a temperature gauge..
---Blacklight effect of air freshners and gadgets installed on your dash
---A car model on the dash (that isn't your brand of car)
---fake CF gas cover that ends up to be an adhesive label
---Gotta love the reflectors to mimic side markers.
---Lastly, I've seen a car in a parking lot with his car alarm LED replaced with strobe lights... Distracting ..

lol lambo doors. theres two cavaliers that show up at tim hortons in pickering sometimes. they both have lambo doors on the front. yes i said front these are 4 door cavaliers with only front lambo doors. they also both have GIANT body kits and the bumpers are like park benches. ones red with a giant wing, the other is kawasaki green with white rims. both also have multicolour underglow and an allotment of flashy things across that dash.

oh i also forgot to mention the 6" exhaust tips and the black hood on the green one.

- Misplaced spoilers (the hood, hatchback (mid), roof)
- Tint films on the rear of the car so it looks like they have no brake lights.
- Excessive number of fog lights
- 60km/h flashing left turn and right turn signals
- Fast and the furious paint schemes
- All the components you have in your car (side door, back window)
- Lcd screens plastered everywhere in your car (back head rest, dash, the ceiling, the trunk) - you can get away with this in suburbia but not d/t
- Mirrored tints - fading tints
- Wrong badging on your car
- License plates that are diagonal on the trunk or bumper
- Shaved handles
