Picked the car up used with 33 000km, 05GT from a dealer, starting to figure out why the guy traded the car in for a new one :(

Sense i`ve bought (less then a month, 3 weeks ago i think) i`ve got the pleasure of dealing with the most freaking annoying issues lol.

3 Days after picking it up .. HID`s which installed by previous owner stoped working, 150USD + shipping for a new bulb which will work with the stupid Kiaxen settup. Which at the moment due to first/last month insurance i havent been able to replace. Not a real serious issue but really annoying when you just bought the car.

1 week after getting the car, my stupid alarm (well flashing lights/honking horn thing which mazda calls an alarm/theift deterinte in the manual) goes off none stop for about a hour, would not shut off. Had to disconnect the dam battery. Was fine for the next few days after that .. reoccuring at the most inconvient times .. like yesturday, as i`m sitting down in subway randomly it goes off again .. wont shut off of course dispite all efforts, this time no wrench on me so i had to jst pull the fuse for the horn and drive all the way back to whtiby with the 4 ways on lol. Again not overly serious but very freakin annoying even more so when you`ve only purchased a newer vehicle becuz u couldnt afford to not have a reliable vehicle.

And now, driving home from grandparents, nice little bang followed by the check engine light coming on. With the way my luck is going, and with an average of a new issue every week .. ill assume this will be a nice expensive fix which mazda will find a way to say isnt covered under warenty.

Sure glad i bought a mazda again, shoulda learned the first time.

dang, you can buy a brand new HID kit for 150USD (a cheap korean one) .

Do you have an aftermarket alarm installed ?

its aftermarket, but was installed prior to purchasing the car. The previous owner installed the kit, dealership sold it with the kit installed.

Then they should warrenty it cause they can't sell the car with non working headlights.

I am sure this won't be much help... but I had an aftermarket alarm installed and the shop had a helluva time trying to get the factory alarm to stop going off. They had to do some rewiring. Took a few hours. If you can't find a way to make it stop... Keiths car audio in burlington could do it for you... they installed mine.

For the engine bang... when you go to the dealer... and they say they can't find anything... keep nagging them. I had engine bangs too... eventually became a blown engine. They said I had a cylinder or something that wasn't firing right (i don't know engines so if i am way off... excuse me) anyways they had to do something to the cylinder or whatever... then 1/2 a year later it blew and they gave me a new one under warranty. Don't worry. They were really good about engine warranty work. AND they were fast!

The HID's and alarm have absolutely nothing to do with the car.......sounds like shoddy install.

As for the bang, better to bring it in to a dealer ASAP for them to look at.

Kinda sounds like all the issues might have to do with the previous owner mucking around with it.

When you see that a used car has had mods done to it, you really have to go over it with a fine toothed comb to determine whether any of those things have made it better or worse.

I wouldn't blame this stuff on it being a Mazda. I'd be cursing the name of the previous owner who likely ruined it for you. :(

sorry just for clarification, there is no aftermarket alarm, when i say alarm i`m just refering to the factory antitheift that comes on all the mazda`s .. u kno u hit the panic button and the horn goes off non stop and the 4 ways flash. Well mine will do that randomly, for no reason, at all hours of the day. Only aftermarket part is the headlights, which imo, bulb burns out in 3days after pickin up the car, they should replace the bulb for free. Aftermarket or not, they sold the car with those headlights, they should take responsibility for them.

What Mazda did you have before that had problems?

are you sure the bulb blew ? Often with HIDS its just a loose connection. "Jiggle" the wires at the back and see if the blown light comes back on again.

What year is your car?
As for the alarm I had the same problem, going off. opening, closing the doors
or trunk with the keys in the house. Happened 3 times about 3 to 5 months ago, hasn't happened since. I am sure if I take it to the dealer they would find nothing wrong. All I did was press the red button on the fob, after running into the house to get the keys to turn it off. Once by locking and unlocking the locks.

Could it actually be the fob itself? Loose connections or something, it sends the wrong signals?

I saw pics... the bulb is gone. Literally... its in pieces. Makes me wonder about a bad install + pothole = smashed :S

You got bad luck Ryan
