ok so i had a set of 225/40/18 on a 18x7.5 rim 45mm offset slammed on tein basics. it had slight rubbing issues if i turn the wheel all the way and drove on uneven grounds or reversed down my driveway.

i sold the set of wheels and now i'm down grading to 17" for this summer. my new rims are 17x7 with a 42mm offset and i want to go 225/45/17. my question is will i get rubbing with this new setup?

yes.....you will....

42 offset is already tight if you're slamming it....and if you run 225 then you'll rub.. 225 is like adding 5mm to your rims making it 17x7.5 with 42 offset which will rub.
