the impressive part was that the z06 was right topped out and just creeping up to 316km/h. the m6 just rocketed up to it and was still climbing strong; it was only limited by the cars in front

It's all legal and I dunno of a track where you can drive that fast except for Nuremberg in Germany

I know it's legal...but what about if they are involved in a crash...it's the whole issue of people that want to speed and are not considering the other people on the road and their lifes....that's so stupid...anyway

I would imagine that those on the Autobahn are much more aware and considerate to those that drive faster than them as compared to those on (for example) the 401. It's stupid if it's done on the 401/speed limited freeways but may not be as "stupid" as you think on the Autobahn.
From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autobahn):
Accident Record
The overall safety record of autobahns is comparable to other European motorways, and motorways are safer than other road types. A 2005 study by the Federal Minister of the Interior indicated that there were an equal number of accidents per kilometer on the autobahn in sections without any speed limits.

Germany is also supposed to be the hardest country in the world to get a drivers licence. Wish Canadian drivers licences where tougher to get than they are at the moment. (Judging by the poor driving skills, I see everyday)
And dont forget nobody sits in the fast lane in europe on cruise control. It's a severley expensive ticket if a cop sees you holding up traffic or refusing to move out of the fast lane after you have completed a pass. You cannot sit in that lane for your whole trip like most people in Toronto do.
That M6 would have schooled the Vette on the bahn!!! What a burner!!!
