Hey,
So as I'm cruising the net I find a nice set of 18's. They have the bolt patternt that will fit (5 x 114.3) and then comes the offset. I don't kno what offset will fit my car. I'm pretty sure its a 40mm, but can ya'll tell me what offsets are best looking and don't rub?

Thanks!

PS Anyone thats selling a set of black with chrome lip 18's give me a shout!

I think these cars generally use a higher offset, like 45mm+, similar to the Subarus, but I'm not positive on that.

Someone will know...

It also depends on the width of the rim.

18 X 7.5 with 45 and higher offset and you will never rub

You have options.

Stock rim is 17"x6.5" 52.5mm offset 5 X 114.3 Bolt Pattern

You can do many different combinations:

17 x 6.5 - 42mm 45mm 48mm 50mm
17 x 7.0 - 42mm 45mm 48mm 50mm
17 x 7.5 - 42mm 45mm 48mm 50mm
17 x 8.0 - 45mm 48mm 50mm
18 x 7.0 - 42mm 45mm 48mm 50mm
18 x 7.5 - 45mm 48mm 50mm
18 x 8.0 - 48mm 50mm
19 x 7.5 - 45mm 48mm 50mm
19 x 8.0 - 48mm 50mm

NOTE: Keep in mind that some sizes will require rolling of fenders if you're lowered, and may rub.

how wide of a rim can you go if you roll your fender and how much would it cost to roll them?

Many of those sizes I posted above, would require a roll if you lower your car.

If lowered you'll need to roll with any offset lower than 45 and any rim 7.5 and wider.

If not lowered you probable won't have to roll.

I know I got that kick ass guide to what rim sizes and offsets work on my Mazda 3...but I have a problem. I found a kick ass set of BBS rims for dirt cheap and they are 18 x 7.5 with a +42mm offset. Will this set-up work??

So according to this post, if I have my rims lowered on H&R springs (mild drop) and buy 18 x 7.5 inch rims with 45 offset and put 225/40/18 tires on thm, I shouldn't have a problem with rubbing. Is this a correct assumption?

Correct assumption.

Yes, but you will rub if you lower, and you will have to roll your fenders.

You shouldn't rub, but you might want to roll the fenders just in case.

Keep in mind the Mazda 3 can rub in a few places. You can rub the fender, which can most of the time be cured by rolling the fenders (note that the fronts cannot be rolled more than they are stock). The other place for rubbing is the actual wheel well.

A 45mm offset with a 7.5" rim seems to be just on the line of rubbing and not rubbing. Guys have pulled off wider rims with higher offsets, in the end its all a gamble and you won't know until you try it.

So a 45mm offset should be fine but is right at the limit, so there is a chance it might rub. If I got rims with a 48mm offset, then I should have no problems at all then.

I think I remember reading that SuperShyGuy has the tool to do this (PM him) or offers this service. If not www.tires23.com (http://www.tires23.com) from Mississauga does it also.

Wicked bump

You will not rub.

I have a 08 sedan on Prokits which had 18x8.5 +42 wheels and there was no rubbing whatsoever.

18 x 8.5 +38, 245/40/18.
*225/35/18

Ok now you're good.
But you'll need - 2.5 camber front to not stick out of fender.
