I am picking up one of these later this week.

Fuji Finepix 5.1MP Digital Camera -S5200-
Yes it is no Digital SLR and Yes it does not have a million features...but for the price it is a great buy.

Can't wait. First new camera in 3 1/2 years... :bana2

I can't tell you how good or bad the Casio and Canon are.

But I bought my girlfriend a Sony Cybershot for christmas, and it is amazing, very small, can fit in a pocket or jacket easily. Good in low light, nice quick photos. My girlfriend uses it all the time when she goes out to bars and such she uses it and the photos come out great. Flash isnt overly bright, so you don't come out looking like a zombie in all the shots.

The Canon is probably good, I have had 3-4 canon digital cameras and they usually are a good standard quality,

My vote is for the Sony, simply because I have used it and I know its good quality!

Happy choosing.

for a point and shoot, I like what Xenon has. It's a Lumix (Panasonic), lots of features. He got if for a good price.

My newest camera is the IXUS 900Ti (SD900). I havn't used it enough to give a review, but i'm not too fond of the zoom with the index finger. Oh well, it was a gift.

I had the Casio EX-Z75 for a few days, decent all round camera. Uses SD cards, so memory is transferable with other devices.

Sony, I'm not one for the memory stick, but their good cameras. I don't like the build quality of the canon SD1000.

Check out the Lumix. else +1 casio

Can anyone recommend a good photography course/school in the GTA? I love to take pictures, but want to know how to take good pictures. I would like to take either a part-time course or a single session course.

I've been using a Canon Powershot for years now and have always been very happy with it. I started out borrowing one from a friend and liked it enough to buy my own.

Fuji uses XD cards, another extra expense. Since my first camera was a fuji and it fell apart.. Though good quality pictures, I stay away from them.(back then it used smartmedia)

xD cards have a limitation right now of 2Gb IIRC, although research into type H might break that barrier. And they're harder to find and more expensive, also proprietary to Fuji.

The Fuji is $350 @ Futureshop, $320 @ Infonec and $280 @ Canada Camera and $250 @ Downtown Camera
I am getting it for $205.(Vp Discount) XD card is no big deal, those are cheap as well.
Like I said for the price it is a great camera.

Biz: From my short research I believe Panasonics Lumix Brand is among the more highly rated cameras.

FX10A $280 (matches your car) -6MP, 3X zoom and Image Stab.

LZ6 $250 -7.2MP , 6X zoom and Image Stab.

Henry's School of Imaging: http://www.henrys.com/school/
I've never attended so I can't really comment (although I've sat in the free introductory ones at Photo shows).
I've got a $65 gift certificate which can be used towards a class. It's up for sale if you want it.

I don't know what people are saying about kodak, but I have a Kodak V803 and the printer dock and it fits my needs perfectly. Takes great pics, allows you to edit on the camera, and just put it into the printer dock and print high quality photo prints.
