The Reason behind the Event "Promote safe modification awareness by Automotive Enthusiasts and Racing in a Controlled safe race track environment with proper education."

Being a mentor to younger generations, and educating starting young is important for a better society. These mentors are responsible for setting role models and expectations to be followed. In the tuner industry respectable organizations and dealers of performance parts should be the mentors for the future vehicle tuners.

Car tuning is an industry and a hobby, for many, which can be very expensive and time consuming. The objectives are to improve the car’s performance and handling to better suit the owners driving style. Tuning has become a way to personalize the characteristics of the vehicle to the owner’s preference. Tuning also includes modifying the exterior of the car to improve aerodynamic and appearance. All modifications should meet legal requirements.

Individuals, who choose to tune their vehicles, often take pride in their work and would not take the risk of damaging their cars; most tuned cars are not driven often and some times have to be trailed to different locations. These individuals often are members of car clubs. In these clubs special events and cruises are planned, so they can enjoy their rides in a safe environment.

Movies such as “The Fast and the Furious” and video games, have glamorized street racing therefore encouraging a lot of young people to modify their cars, without being educated about the tuner industry. This negative media has damaged the image of the tuner industry and individuals who are part of it.

Many events out there eg. Canadian Sport Compact Series (CSCS - cscs.ca), or Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship(touringcar.ca) show and encourage individuals to “prove it at the track” in a safe environment. These events usualy consist of a Show and Shine, Drag Racing, Lapping, and Drifting, as well as Touring Car circuit racing, and welcome everyone from amateurs to professionals. Participating in these events gives the enthusiast an opportunity to test their vehicle against time or competitors away from the streets and in a controlled, safe environment.

There are many more organizations within the tuner industry with the same objective. There are schools where you can bring your vehicle and learn how to race, take you car to the track, and have the experience of riding with a professional racer.

Street racing can be planned however most of the time an action of impulse. Street racers do not usually think of the consequences of their actions. Their main focus is on winning the race forgetting that they are sharing the roads with other individuals. This mind set must be changed with proper education, and awarness of the various options available out there.

The important thing to remember is that a tuner is not always a street racer; they are the ones who are the most unlikely to street race, since they are educated on this industry and have opportunities to test theirs car in safe environments, and compete with cars at their levels, therefore having a real challenge.

It is hard to identify street racers since their actions are based on impulse, but one thing is for sure, they are new to this industry and require guidence and proper education.

Event Objectives:
- To change the current perception created by negative media regarding the tuner industry and its relation to street racing
- Provide a fun event full of activities for everyone and at the same time provide the general public with an opportunity to learn about the tuner industry
- Change the mind set of “street racers” and encourage them to leave the streets and go to race tracks, keeping the streets safe. If you have something to prove go to the track!
-Take this opportunity to get involved with giving back to the community by supporting a charity

Ah, the good ol' Highschool days where anyone with a car (modded or not) drives like @$$.

I was there once, then witnessed one of my friends spilt his honda civic into two. Luckily no one was injured.

Now im just in it for the looks and driving really slow so all the ladies have time to see me :P

This is an excellent cause and I'll make sure I'm there.
Being on my 8th ride or so... and a senior (so-to-say) in the industry, car enthusiasts who mod cars as a hobby/ past- time have been getting a bum rap for years because of those who street race and are un- educated in proper or legal modifications. I really hope that there is a huge turnout (especially for those who are just getting into the industry).

Well The only guy in the forums who stepped it up was John a.k.a. Midnightfx... He represented his 3 as a Team Slipstream member. I was quite impressed with all the cars laid out... Big ups to a rookie protege member who had a sleeper Protege LOL!!

SEVSEV was in the show as well. about 150 + cars showed up, and the sickest ride would have to be the Lotus Elise.

Killean (A.K.A. Kiwee) was there with his Suby... Soooo Siick

Even the Mazda6 crew repped the place. I was pretty much kicking myself seeing that I could have left anytime during the show... I was hesitant because of the canadiancaraudio show and shine... The show was blocked off from wandering spectators parking their rides... Next year for sure I will park my ride there.

Posting pictures at the media section shortly.

Too bad July is the peak season for weddings, and parks... But if you guys want to make the car club known, shows like these will get us noticed...
Even though I didn't enter, I repped the forum wearing the golfy....

BTW.. No Car compactors, but a couple of guys where pulled over at winston churchill... A bunch of yahoos!!

Press Release to Follow:

Thank you everyone for attending our event. The turn out was much more than what we expected, it was totally unexpected to have so many cars out. It was a crazy day, a lot of work, however my International Allstars Team(www.teamallstars.com) and JRP Team(www.jrponline.com) came through with flying colors. Wow!

Thank you for coming out and supporting "International Allstars Canada and JRP Presents "Tuners Against Street Racing" in support of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Peel. Both International Allstars and JRP Teams did an excellent job. We helped Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Peel to get a few more Brothers, since there is a long list of boys who are waiting for a Big Brother (if you are interested in becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister visit www.bbbspeel.com and help with their cause. We hope this event also brought up awareness of the street racing issue. I hope I didn’t annoy too many people, as I had to take on an MC role last minute. I hope I did a good job.

Now about the event;
There was a seminar inside of JRP, which I announced number of times throughout the day. Chuck Atkins the director of SoloSprint Series was present at the event and had a presentation put together to educate people on road/track racing and safety. He announced the seminar at JRP himself as well as introduced the Solo Sprint Series. Unfortunately there was not enough interest from the attendees, and we are still trying to figure out why, since it was an awesome presentation with videos and everything! Chuck prepared something really nice for everyone and really educational too! Please if you did not get a chance to attend the seminar and want to know more about SOLO 1 or SOLO 2 visit http://www.soloontario.com

Also present at the event were;
>Gerry Cornwell - an instructor from Ian Law's Car Control School with his racecar. For more information on Ian Law and Car Control School visit www.carcontrolschool.com.
>Jim Pirzas and his crew from TryKarting - they work with other organizations to help eliminate street racing as well, “Stop Street Racing Try Karting!” For more information visit www.trykarting.com.
>John Bondar - President of the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship, he was kind enough to provide us with some tickets for the next race on Aug 11-12, as well as some posters for giveaways. If you got a ticket do not miss your chance to watch some really good racing. If you did not get a ticket, more tickets are available at the JRP Mississauga location. For more information visit http://www.touringcar.ca

This was a first show of its kind for International Allstars and JRP, therefore it will take many more to get people to listen to what we are trying to progress.

This year’s focus was to encourage racing in a controlled and safe environment and off the streets. Since Street Racing is an issue, which was predominant in the media, we felt like we could not wait and had to have this event as soon as possible, leaving us with little time to plan it. We are happy that many schools and institutions actually came out and supported our idea. We approached many different organizations to participate in this event, we thank those who were able to make in such short notice, and however there were a few which could not fit this event into their schedules. We also had the support of CSCS.ca, which promotes safe drifting, drag and track racing at their events. As you see we tried to cover as many aspects of racing as possible. Next year we will try to present to you much more! Another thing on the positive side, which I think we can all agree on is that we were blessed with gorgeous weather! Therefore the education was there, and will be more next year, considering we only had 2 months to prepare this event. At times things got out of hand, hopefully no one noticed, hehehe…we had our hands full and might have missed a few things. We will be more aware next time. I am very proud of our event.

International Allstars Team/judges and my crew did a phenomenal job in listening to everyone and what they had to say about their cars. I guess this is why it took so long for us to judge. Plus the calibre of cars we had, was phenomenal so it took longer to sort. We cannot please everyone but I am really proud of this event. Big thank you for everyone being a part of our event and representing them selves in a very professional and clubman like manner. You guys are an example to be followed bar none. It will be a pleasure to work with you in the future.

About No Police Presence at the Event, E.R.A.S.E was totally interested in coming out and supporting our event, however we decided not to as there is just too much heat in the media, and we cant being to imagine what might have happened. It turned out well.

Please check the links listed in the hand out inside your goodie bags. Some really good information there! If you did not get one, or lost yours here are the links again:
