Hello everyone:
I am planning on going to NY city August 2nd to 6th with my g/f for a little vacation. We just booked our flights from Buffalo to JFK on JetBlue for $254.60 USD roundtrip! :bana I wish it was that cheap to fly within Canada :loco
Can someone recommend any hotels to stay at for less than $200 a night near Central Park (Upper East or West side)?
Thanks

Near Central Park - as in Manhattan? Good luck finding anything cheap. The hotels there are way more expensive than in Toronto.

Yes Manhattan. There are places under $200 a night but I was hoping some members could recommend some places to stay.

The Hotel New Yorker is where I stayed. A few blocks away from Maddison Sqaure Garden and close to everything. I paid around $200/night.

The Helmsley Park Lane has a Superior Room with a city view for $158US a night. I stayed at one of their hotels (but a little further south, righ across the street the from Kaballah Centre) the last time I was in NYC, it was pretty good.

As temperatures increase into the summer, so do hotel prices in Manhattan. The good news is that the AAA 3-Diamond Wall Street District Hotel, located in lower Manhattan, is offering a $160 (US$149) special -- 40% OFF the regular rates and one of the lowest rates we've seen in this area.
This $160 deal is valid each day between June 29 - July 8. Weekend stays (Friday-Sunday) between July 13 - Sept. 3 are just $180 per night. You must book by June 8.
Call 212-232-7800 to book directly with the hotel. ***Prices listed on the phone will be in US dollars.

A colleague of mine went here last summer and was impressed. He paid just under $200/night US but that was for a large suite

I just booked the Belleclaire Hotel (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60763-d93390-Reviews-Belleclaire_Hotel-New_York_City_New_York.html). It had decent reviews and was really cheap. $555USD for 4 nights shared bathroom and queen bed.
Thanks for you input and I'll let everyone know how it was.
