Has anyone experienced a problem with the cd changer.
I picked up my car almost two months ago. Loving it. Until Sunday morning. I popped in two cd's and..... CHECK CD. I tried to eject it. Can't I tried to change to another CD.... CHECK CD.
I called Dufferin Mazda for help on Monday. I was informed that there has been a problem with the CD Changer's. They are being replaced. Has anyone heard or experienced this problem.
I've called for a service appointment for them to take a look at it but they are skeptical as to whether I may have to pay. The car is seven weeks old! Crikey!!!! I came from having a Honda and my dealership was exceptional!!! This was one of the larger points of consideration in changing into another brand of vehicle. Yet rest assured they said I would be taken care of.
If anyone has any advice or knowledge on this hiccup, this zoomzoom girl would really appreciate it.
Thank you

No problems here and the car is about the same vintage as yours but can't say the CD player get much use. I would think there would be no problem getting the CD player replaced under warranty at any dealer.
What Honda dealer did you use that you got exceptional service? Midtown(Dalts)? I need one of those:rant

You can check for any trouble codes with a simple button sequence. Turn on the ignition power and press and hold the POWER button. Then press the AM and CLOCK buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds. The display will show any trouble codes on the display. Use the Seek buttons to scroll through them. Turn off the car to reset the unit back to normal.
This procedure also lets you see the maker of the modules installed, but only if there is a trouble code associated with it. The first two digits in the display identify the device in question - see the following table. The 6-CD disc numbers are used to show the supplier of a module (1 for FMS, 2 for Panasonic, and 3 for Clarion).
Device Code ---Part Name
00 ------ Casette Deck
03 ------ CD Player
05 ------ External CD Changer
06 ------ Internal CD Changer
07 ------ MD Player
09 ------ Base Head Unit
After the Device Code is a colon and the trouble code in the format, "Er10" (which means "communication line error"). Here's a general table of error codes:
Error Code--- Error Type ---Description
01 --- Insert/Eject Fault ---The device failed to insert or eject media.
02 --- Media Read Fault ---The device couldn't play/read the media.
03 --- Mechanism Fault ---The physical mechanism (reel/spindles) failed to function.
04 --- Media Fault --- The media is worn out.
07 --- Media Read Fault ---The device couldn't play/read the media.
10 --- Communication Fault ---Connectors or communication failed
20 --- Base Unit Power Fault ---Improper voltage detected.
22 --- Base Unit Fault
You can clear the codes by entering diagnostic mode and then pressing POWER and then AUDIO CONT (the other big button) for 2 seconds, but this is probably not something you should be doing. Instead, take a radio showing a trouble code to a dealer to get it fixed and let them clear the codes when it's done.

Ask Mazda to replace the unit with one that can play mp3's. Then you won't need the cd changer.

I actually just had this problem today. Was listening to my cd when and when I changed the song it just stopped working. Got the same check cd error. The car is only two weeks old and its doing this. Oh mine is also a single disc not the 6-disc. Gonna swing it by the dealer tomorrow. Already talked to one of the service guys and he just said if thats the case they may just order me a new one. Heres hoping my 1st service experience goes well.

I had mine in at the Dealership yesterday. They ordered me a brand new one. Maybe I should have got a 6-disc lol. Maybe this is more of a problem than we know so far.
