you're going to defeat the purpose of getting a camry by doing all those things to it.
but i like your way of thinking =)

Nice looking Camry Pearly. Big and spacious. But I'm just curious about the planned mods...

Why?

With all those pimped out mods you have on your list, your gf is going to get a lot of attention (good or bad) from other ricers in the Richmond Hill area while she's driving it. Do you really want that? Does she really want that?

Just my two cents but I think its rather silly to turn a nice family car into a Fast and Furious ride.

This would be my mod list for a Camry:

HIDs
Tints
Custom license plate with at least a few "8" in there.
A baseball cap/tint visor and a pair of driving gloves so that she doesn't get a tan.

Come on now...a slammed Camry does look a little silly.

THanks guys....

As to dropping the car. Its just a thought and was her idea cause she wants more handling to the car. The drop is not that big its 1 inch front and back. As for tints i've booked an appointment at fx but there all fully booked so i'll have to wait another week. Also it was her idea of getting rid of those stock wheels cause she hates them ( i like them myself).

We'll have to see what she thinks after driving for another week.

I was driving it today and the car was very huge. Still have to get used to parkign with it.

And thanks pat. Those style wheels she was looking at.

Really? I thought the 3 and Civic were deemed economy cars (younger people drive them in general, so more modding) while the Camry and Accord were family cars. I think we can agree that 8/10 Camrys are stock?

Meh. Maybe I'm wrong then. But according to you, I'm glad I haven't done much to my car in the past 3 years. Wouldn't want the "tons of people out there saying the same thing about people modding the 3" to give me a hard time then.

Pearly: Just offering an opinion. Maybe one from a slightly older person. :)

Kevin@nextmod

lol It's a Toyota. I would leave it bone stock. Maybe tint it and add HID's but it's a family car imo. I would have bought a something with a little more sports appeal and then done that car up. Whats wrong with like a RSX, WRX or a Rx8 even?

Well I hope she enjoys her new car.

Don't waste your (or whoever's) money on modding a Camry. They look fine as is. The only thing I would find acceptable is tints. It falls in the same category as a Ford Taurus to me. Would you pimp out a Ford Taurus? Just donate that money to charity or something.

So its wrong to mod a toyota? simple mods is there to just make the car stand out a little more and to look good. Is the 3 sports appealing? Camry made up the SE because it can fall in the same category. I would think the camry to a certain extent is sportier then a 3. Both comes with 17 inch rims but at least the camry came with a full lip kit and sports suspension. Have you drove an SE camry before? I can tell you the suspension is much stiffer compared to my stock 3 before.

The taurus do come in SHO version which is modded. The chrysler 300 is a family car just like the camry, and its more luxury then the camry. People thinks its ok to mod a 300 and not a camry? is the 300 actually made to mod?

No disrespect to either of you. Just giving out my thoughts. But i do appreciate both your comments. :)

No guessing about it, you are jealous!

Why does it matter where the money comes from for mods?

If his parent want to give him money that is up to them. I am sure at some point in Pearly's life he will have to care for his parents and he won't think twice about it. He might even have kids one day and spend money on their interest or hobbies. Life is a circle everything comes around.

Kevin@nextmod
06-27-2007, 12:09 PM
I never for once said that i paid for my mods. My parents are willing to pay for it so what? You see people on the road in there 20s driving a 150 thousand dollar porsche, would you go up to them and smack them in the face cause there parents paid for it? Because you're jealous it gives you the privalege to talk people down cause there parents paid for everything? I can't really imagine what will happen if someone here on this board suddenly got a porsche or a ferrari that there parents paid for it.

I don't get this. Do some of you have something up your ass? Or is life that bad for you to be crapping on other people?

I thought the fact that people modded their vehicles to personalize them? Hell if the 3 was a modding car, why would they have 4 different bumpers, 3 grills, differing from trim level and hatch/sedan?

Kids in there 16s drive 330i bimmers, C class mercedes and i've seen a fully modded S-line S3. Pearly, you got some enemies eh?

We should all keep on topic of the mods for the Camry. Some have said go ahead while others say its good as it is. In the end, Caz is right, its up to Pearly and the gf to do what they want. He only wants your opinion not some rant about his parents paying for mods. I don't know who you are P.I.A.F (Pain In The Arse Fellow? Or maybe a typo for PIAA?) but with less than 10 posts and attacking a long time member, you are not making a good impression so far.

Pearly is right. His modded Mazda3 is nothing compared to the Benz and BMWs you see in high schools and Unversity parking lots now. Give him some credit for not just asking the parents for a Benz or Bimmer but instead using his creativity to mod his 3.

example - i saw a modded toyota tercel the other day full body kit new fenders and im pretty sure it had a turbo so just goes to show any car can be modded

I have just never been a fan of Toyota my whole life and never understood why people bought their cars. No I have not been in a Camry SE and I am sure it's a great ride as sooo many people buy these cars, I am just not into them. Like I said, I hope she enjoys her new car.

There are 2 chartered accountants close to where I work and they both have those cars, one put chrome rims on it and the other put some kind of a bodykit on it. They are 60 year old white men so it kind of ruined it for me.

You will also always get slack when parents give nice things to their kids. I have gotten it my whole life and it sucks. This was the first car I paid/am paying for 100% and do you know what? I like the free cars better :)

motortrend is on crack

the altima is deffinetly the winner, its the only one with there engine on wards 10 best for 10 straight years, sedan is a lot nicer (IMO) but the coupe is definetly better (my buddy just picked one up), and the seats and rest of the interior is comfortable, classy, and a bit sporty all at the same time

but thats just my opinion

i own a 07 altima, the seats really do suck. then again its really hard to drive the car comfortably the way i drive my mx5. and the steering on the altima is ridiculously light, maybe as floaty as the camry; i havent driven a newer camry, but ive sat in one. the fit and finish of the new camry is FAR superior to the altima (no random creaks and squeeks).

though after saying all that, i would still prefer the altima to the camry. i mean look at everything they give u in the SL package and of course that vq35 under the hoood

Go to town Pearly! Do whatever you like to it. Personally... I live in Thornhill and I cant think of a camry (modern version) that has been modded... that Ive ever seen. Do it.. HIDs are a great place to start as well as double din nav! Both arent just mods that make you standout... but are the two most practical mods I have done to my car! DOOOOO IT! A pro kit drop wont be a huge esthetic change.... people will just see and think that it looks better... less wheel gap is good!

On the whole money/parents deal.... Ill side with Pearly and Cereal on this one... Who cares where the money comes from... My schooling... first car .. visa etc were paid for by my parents.. Does this make me a spoiled person? does this mean that I will never truly learn the value of a dollar? and any of the other BS excuses that jealousy spawn>? I didnt turn out to be living off my parents for the rest of my life..... Im doing just fine. That being said... I love being debt free in my career amongst other things.... As was mentioned earlier.... Im sure my parents will get it back eventually... Just ask them how much they love flying for free on Air Canada ;)

Keep it up Kevin... HID's and Nav!!! Dooooo it!

Hey Kev... Idea.... do some dremel work.. and put on a dual (Pro-racer) exhaust! ;) would look hot.... wont be loud....and youll have matching exhausts! You owe me a fee if you use that now :D plus.... a dual on the back of the camry would look hot! and very custom I might add! :D Keep the ideas coming!

My god man. For the past ten years Toyota has been building Grandma mobiles. Supra? Mr2? older Celicas? They were awesome. What do they offer now? TRD matrix's ?? The Camry is nice, but not very sporty. It's also the most sporty car they have now. Don't go talking Lexus because their price range is far above what we're talking about here.. ;) Toyota has gone bland and appealing to the 40+ crowd , or penny pinchers.
