I am looking at 18 x 8.5 rims with 52 offset.

how well of a fit is this on the 3??

I think you will rub the inside struts and stick out the fenders. I would not suggest this setup. My 17 x 8 with a 48 offset come really close to the struts so I would advise not to as the wheel will be wider and the offset is even higher.
