I just found these pics on m3f. They are not my own. Just thought I would post them up for you so you could see what they look like on a 3.

I would suggest 215/40 for that setup, 225 might rub.
Texas2Lo can probably give you more insight as he is running the same specs on his wheels.

I used the offset calculator to check some sizes, I have never been too sure why some setup work and some don't according to the calculator:

width---offset--- outer position---rubbing according to people's experience
7.0---38---extend 20mm---yes
7.5---45---extend 20mm---no
7.5---42---extend 23mm---yes
8.0---45---extend 26mm---no

These are all using 215 tires. Wonder why the 7" with 38 offset won't work while people never rub with 7.5" with 45 offset. They both extend 20mm.

215/45/18 should be fine i think.. with 225 you'll rub on the fender in front a bit and probally in back also

No, I'd stick with 215/40/18 if that's ok for an 8" wide wheel. 215/45/18 is taller than you'd like.

8" is way too wide for 3, stay in 7.5, at less 215. those rims are cool unless they do their job properly.

I'm running 225s on a 7.5" rim, so don't be to worried about 225s. Just be careful with the size and offset of the tire and rim. Some people have been able to run 8" no problem with a higher offset.

yea im running a 225 +45 and like i said, i have only rubbed at full lock while turning out of a parking spot or something like that. but to each is own, so do what makes you happy.

I'm running 225 +45 18 x 7.5, I'll be on Pro-Kits in the spring so if I don't rub then we'll all clear :p

Hey Guys,
I running 215/45/18 on a 7" wide rim w/ a +45 offset. I only rub when I lock the wheel but, my car is lowered. I'm think of getting 225/40/18 this year.

Thanks,
Mike
