Did the indie fog mod and am pleased with the results...the only thing i noticed is that the fogs stay on for over a minutes after shut off the car. I read that it should shut off within 30 sec...
Anyone with some insight on why? If there is a way to have them turn off immediately, let me know !!!

thx !!

Rather not put in another switch as there's the factory one already...

i c....my angel eyes does the same thing sometimes....i connected it directly to the fuse so that when I shut off my car, the eyes usually goes off in 10secs, but at times it stays on forever ...

It's because of the location we're using in the fuse box. The amount of time it says on afterwards seems completely random. I've seen anywhere from 5 seconds to 1 minute.

The only way to resolve that is to find a positive or negative connection that is active only when the car is on.

Mine is 10 seconds and its the same everytime, I think Biz's turns off rite away though. Ask him if you want.

Mine varies from time to time, normally it's about 15 seconds, but there was one night that it kept on for about 5minutes, since then, I just use the switch to turn them off and forgot about this behavior until this tread.

5 Minutes? Did you do the Mod yourself?

Nope, had lockdown set it up when I had it installed.

I'll try to time mine next time... I doubt it's 5 minutes.

My independent fog seems to be different from everyone else. But mine wasn't done at Lockdown. In the winter it's almost instant that they go off and now it's pretty much on time at 10 seconds.

mine is exactly 10 seconds every time. you can hook the male "power" connector right into one of the empty sockets where the actual fog fuse useto be and it will go off right away, ala Jeff's. If you have any questions about the exact location, im sure you could stop by the dealership on a day he isnt busy and he could hook you up.

If hooking up the male connector to one of the empty sockets where the fog relay use to be is the answer, why does everyone hook it to an empty one somewhere else?

Guess I'm gonna have to bug Jeff...:chuckle

I got mine down at Lockdown and its roughly 10 seconds too. There's a faint humming noise and then there's a mechanical whirring noise for about a second and then you hear it die down and thats when the fogs turn off.

I believe the noise you describe is from the electronic servo (drive-by-wire) throttle body. There's a thread that explains why that is....search if you want to know the reason behind it. But yeah, I haven't stood there and experimented but I think you might be right.

+1 to xerox's answer... and as to why people didnt ever hook the male power connector up to the fog area in the first place... I dont know? Maybe they wanted them to stay on, I really like the effect on mine.

errrr or you can just turn them off with the switch ..

I timed mine today... It went off in 2 minutes 17 seconds, which is the longest it says on.

Thanks, I'll take a look at the other threads. I always wondered what that was, I couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from from just listening to it. Doesn't it seem kind of stupid that the foglights would be connected to this somehow?

This is a shot in the dark but it might be that the car needs power to do what it needs to do with the throttle body and the independent fog mod feeds off of that power. So when-ever the throttle body is getting power, so do the fogs.

I just had mine done yesterday at Lockdown. Jeff said it depends on what you are tapping into for the signal. If that items is still running after you turn off the car, the Fogs will also stay on. You may need to find a different wire to tap in for your signal.

The problem is not the signal, but rather the place we are grabbing the positive. That fuse location everyone is using keeps getting power after the ignition is turned off.

I have my signal attached to permanent ground.

i did mine at some shop and when i turn the key off it just stays off asap......

and when i start the car the fogs turn on when i release the hand brake....

i never asked him how he did it .......but i think he might have wired it to the ignition wire and or the hand brake signal one ......or something....

When I was @ MOT last week, Jeff showed me his fog mod and now mine shuts off when I turn off the car.

the fix is as easy as just changing the location the "power" connector in the fusebox connects to.
