okay so I was looking up prices for cars for my cousin since she was interested in buying a new car...and i came across nissan.ca and i found this
http://www.nissan.ca/en/ms/futuremodels/gtr/

"The dream of every red-blooded automotive enthusiast is coming true. On April 12, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. President and CEO Carlos Ghosn gave the wake up call; the Nissan GT-R is go. The production version will make its world debut at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. It will go on sale in Japan in Fall 2007. Canada and U.S. will follow in Spring 2008."

Finally....Nissan decides to release the GTR in Canada...coincidentally the exact same time Mitsubishi decides to release the Evolution X in Canada...haha :chuckle just maybe thought some of you would be interested in this news :)

p.s. i've been seeing alot of those R32's around lately that have the steering wheel on the wrong side...i was wonder how much they get it imported from japan? =S and wouldn't they get a ticket everytime they drive by a cop? since the wheel is on the wrong side haha

haha nahh she wasn't looking into the GTR...i just came across it...she was looking at the 350Z....shes got a pretty good paying job...but i told her she would be better off using the money on a STi or a BMW 3 coupe....atleast those can last the winter

ive seen these skylines go for around ~$15k.
my one friend's friend imported a '92 rx7 TT for ~$12k i believe.
its funny, because the non turbo'd rx7s over here are more than double that price.
but the demand has just increased ten fold, because the soon you will only be able to import cars that are 20 yrs old IIRC (currently its 15)

and there is no problem with the cops. just as long as you imported the car legally and all ;)

wow 15k for a skyline...12k for rx7....those prices seem pretty good...haha oh so the steering wheel doesn't have to be on the left side? wtf haha

Yeah, you can import them, but they're mainly right-hand drive thou.

Right-Hand drive is a PITA............especially left-hand turns, and if you don't see the bastard comming, where do you think his pretty car is going to hit ><

How much is the GTR? It looks awesome and that might be my next car. Spring 2008 is only 6 months away!

I will believe this when I see it.
The car will be at least 3 times the price of a Mazda3 GT.

I heard there was going to be a cheap version for like $30000 and then a middle range version for about $60k and then the good version for $90k. I dunno. Hopefully there is a $30k version

From all the rumours I've seen... $70-80G USD for a GTR. Makes business sense, it's their "supercar" and it would cut into 350Z sales if they priced it in the same range as the Z.

as for the skylines.... not hard to import them or the silvias anymore... and they do range in price.. just depends on the mileage... and shape of the vehicle... no trouble with the police as long as the vehicle has displayed that it is a rhd vehicle.... so that the officer knows to walk up on the right side. They can be a pita.... but they are still kind of cool.... importing isn't really the problem.. while it is easier now... before not many companies would insure the skylines.... or any of the rhd vehicles for that matter....

$30K for a no frills GTR. No way, not unless it had 4-cylinders, no interior, no A/C and drum brakes only.

$30K for a Altima coupe.

There is no way in hell they would do that, that is a $60K range for the same car. It would kill the sales of the "good version" as there would be tons of wanna be "cheap version" GT-R's out there.

ok, more video and commentary on the GTR.

http://cars.ign.com/articles/798/798833p1.html

They're comparing it to the Porsche 911 Turbo at half the price.

There was an R34 in the Vancouver area and supposedly a couple USDM Evo 8's. They get into the country and insured by way of some expensive loop hole.

there's a post here: http://forums.beyond.ca/st/182097/new-gtr-at-goodwood/ which seems to say the new GTR will be 55,000 Euros (or about $132,000 Cdn). there might be cheaper "skyline" models.

as for import questions, check out the regs at www.riv.ca. cars not designed for the Canadian or US markets are eligible for import 15 years afters they've been made, based on the month of manufacture. that's changing to 25 years fairly soon.

from the regs, the R34s and the USDM Evo 8s are illegal in Canada. AFAIK, there is no loophole; if Transport Canada finds out you have one, they'll impound it and either export it from the country, part it out, or destroy it.

[More editing: see http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/impxus_e.htm for more info.]
