I seem to recall a post on the old board about this spotting happening to the pearl white finishes. Still another post mentioned that the dealership thought it was the rust coming off the calipers.

The consensus seems to be that it can be taken out if you clay bar the car. Hope that helps and if it does please remember to use the search function next time.

You have 2 options
1. Clay bar them
2. remove them

IIRC....when i pulled out my moldings, i found out the moldings were not body colored. Its just normal plane ugly white.

Visit the dealer. Have them replaced if you want them that bad. But keep in mind they are not functional on the car. It' s just that Soccer moms in north america seem to feel safer with strips on their doors for some reason.. so they're here. They will not protect your paint/doors in anything but ideal conditions. Grocery carts, taller vehicles, shorter vehicles, oddly shaped doors will all gouge your doors.
Park further, and safer and it won't be a problem. No door dents yet.... and that's because I don't wedge my car into the first closest spot available. I park in the back in the space with many available spots around me. It's also better exercise, and looks better without door strips.. :)
ok it's been 3 months since i got my m3... if i take them off now and since i park in on my driveway with the sun always shining on it, will it leave a line on the doors if i take them off now?
how do i take them off? a regular blow dryer?

After all the problems I've had with removing my door moldings, everything including the different colour that was underneath them is gone...
It'll take a few washes and waxes and at least one clay bar, but in the end it looks so clean!

I think it looks even better on a White or Silver Golf/Jetta
I think it would look even better if it matched the colour of the car.
