Looking for a day trip destination at one of the Ontario National Parks.
I've been to a few but heard Killbear is pretty nice.
Anyone been? Comments or other suggestions?
Thanks

not worth the 3 hours drive each way for a day! should at least stay couple of nights.

i used to go there every year as a kid during the summer.
its a very nice park, as i remember, but there is some poison ivy in some spots, so u have to watch out.
but i wouldnt go there if you want a peaceful time... theres always boats/jetskis out on the water, and they get quite annoying, cuz u can here them km's away.....
its also been at least 8 years since ive last been there... so things may have changed, i dont know.
but ya, dont go for just one day. stay at least a night or two.
its funny, its seems my family goes farther and farther north each time we go camping. first it was killbear (3 hrs), then bon echo (5.5 hrs), then halfway (7hrs), then timmins (10 hrs)

i went there once for a field trip. 4 night camping trip, altho we were in cabins. why not get a private spot on the lake somewhere?? then you can go fishing, be in the peace and quiet, etc etc

i forgot to mention, algonquin park gets booked up early, so if this is something your lookin for on the whim, algonquin may not be for you as you may not get a site, unless your going interior camping. just an FYI

Killbear is nice but it is kind of far for a day trip.
What are you looking to do? Place to relax or place to take pictures?
I would suggest Awenda Provincial Park (Penetang/Midland area) for a day trip as it is similiar to Killbear and is about 1.5hrs away (400 to hwy 93 and follow the signs). It is also on Georgian Bay and has some great spots to take pictures or to relax and swim just like Killbear. There are also some great places close by (Balm Beach 15 minutes away from Awenda at the end of Hwy 12?) where you can get some great pics of the sun setting.

Thanks for the input guys.
The people I'm planning on going with are all avid photographers so I'm looking for a place that will take good pics.
It's too hard for me to go away for more than one day or I would. Besides, the drive is half the fun.

killbear is good for a few days, dunno about a day trip
if u do end up going, bring trunks. They have a great cliff diving hill. several jump points at different elevations = tons of fun.
