I'm planning to put the MAZDASPEED 3 wheels on the regular GT 2.3 L sedan .....

i know the sedan uses 17 inch alloy wheels....

will they fit?

and how will they affect handling ? cause i know the mazda speed 3 wheels are heavier.....

can someone explain to me what kind of performance will i lose out if i use these wheels ?

and how much more expensive will tires be for 18 inch over 17 ?

thanks!

The wheels will fit, and the performance loss is minimal.

As for price, it depends on what tires etc you want. Check out places like www.tirerack.com and www.1010tires.com and compare. 215/45/17 and 225/40/18 are the common replacement sizes. I would guess about $100-200 in difference for 17" vs 18"

(please correct me if i'm wrong)
if MS3 wheels are 18" x 7"....it may not be wise to go w/ 225/40/18...
hense, many in the US has replaced their stock Potenza (on MS6 18"x7")
w/ 225/40/18...it's do-able....but not recommanded.
accordin' to 1010tires's tech section, 225/40/18 is for 7.5" - 9" wide wheels..

Good point! I didnt know they were only 7" wide... was just going on common replacement sizes for the reg Mazda3 for pricing reference.

would the MS3 wheels raise the car up a bit? Are there any difference in suspension from a hatch that is running 16" vs 17".

There is a 2" height difference from the 16" stock rims vs. the MS3 wheels and want to know as well if it will make the hatch look like a 4x4.

When I think about it, they come stock on the MS3, but dont know how much they differ.

as long as you get tires that maintain the same rolling diameter, it won't raise the height of the car.

however, when doing so, the sidewall height on an 18" tire becomes smaller vs. the 16" tire. this visual difference makes the fender gap appear taller, giving it that 4x4 look.

ouch....really. The tires on them are 215/45/18. Will it make it really look like a 4x4? If so, i might just sell them cause I dont want to lower the car, nor do i want to go through the hassle of selling the tires to get new ones.

It will look pretty sick with the 18" and pro kit.

The speed wheels with a low profile tire. I almost got those instead of the ones I got from Tires 23. They have a nice clean look, real nice.

I stayed away because the factory tires for the regular 3 (Goodyear Eagles) suck in my opinion.

They in fact do look sweet and the reason why I got it....

i am hesistant to throw them on as I dont want the car to look like a 4x4 considering the stock wheels are 16" and these are 18's with rubber size 215/45/18.

They are about 2" taller. I dont plan on lowering my wifes 3.

I love the look of the wheels though

215/45/18 vs. 205/55/16 (stock size)

diameter: 25.6" vs. 24.9"
sidewall height: 3.8" vs. 4.4"

with the 215/45/18 the speedo will be off by 3% (speedo reads 100km/h, actually travelling 103km/h)

as for the 4x4 look, the sidewall height is smaller, but the wheel/tire is taller by almost 1"...the only way to tell would be to put them on and give it some time to make a judgement call.

dang....where did you get the numbers from? Thanks

If only 1" taller I might do what you said and try them on one side and see. It might not actually look bad.

Thanks

Of course it fits. WW was just trying to scare you. Like I said, if the wide arse RX8 rims fit with no rubbing, no one should have problems with the MS3 rims.

Car looks great by the way. Not feeling the raised spoiler tho.

How many threads are there gonna be till everyone realizes that Mazda OEM rims fit our 3's!

Yeah trade someone for a lip spoiler I think it would look pretty good.

Is your car lowered?
I like it, its a very nice car......on the frontbumper you have a lip? Where have you bought that?
Whats the size of your rims?
@stevenlung you have 225/40/18?? and no rubbing??
The standard size of the rims of my mazda3 is 205/55/17.
I want to lowered my car, what size of rims can i use?

MS3 wheel - 18x7 +50/52mm I think

My setup:
wheel size - 18x8
offset - +45mm
tires - 225/40/18 Fuzion ZRi (no rubbing since day 1, I'm not joking, had it on for 3 months)
springs - Tein H-tech

You meant you wanna lower your car and buy new rims, or lower it with the stock rims? stock rims will be fine unless you slam it really low.

say No to 19", it's too big for our car

for rims, 18" looks great on your ride but make sure the wheel offset doesn't go lower than mine if you are looking for 18x8, for 18x7.5, I think you can probably go as low as +42mm, but for your concern of rubbing, go with 45 or 48 will be a safer bet
