Im currently shopping around for wheels...i was just wondering if anyone could give me some input on the brand names out there. I don't really know much about them. Which ones are good quality, good reputation and basically which ones will give you the best bang for your bucks. brands like fast wheels, drag wheels, enkei, tenzo, bbs etc etc....If this was discussed before i apologize in advanced. i searched couldnt find it...if anyone could post the link would be appreciated. thanks.

I think you should suggest what your budget is and what size and style you would like. That way people could recommend something which is what you are looking for and fits your price range.

ahh my budget is 1000-1200 including tires/install. I know i wont get that brand new but im lookin at used wheels too. as for Style....17s 5 spoke. black or bronze nothing fancy...But im my question remains which brand names are good quality...and which brands i should stay away from if they are cheaply made.

You are in the ROTA territory with that price range or check ebay for a little better quality rim

i find companys like, Rays/gramlites, Volk, Work, SSR, and other JDM companies are top of the line.
and i find companies like Drag just copy everyone else's design. not that theres anything wrong with that, as we can have the same 'look' for hundred less

and just so you know drifter, i bought my rims brand new, with tires, for $1400. i still wish i splurged and got 18's tho....
and just so ya know, ive been thinking about getting new rims next year....
thats if i find a nice set of used ones for sale.

Thanks for info...yea i find rays and work overpriced. im sure the quality is there but i just cant justify spending 2-3g on wheels. i guess ill be lookin into brands just under that category of high end...i guess rota or drag as suggested.

Well ROTA and DRAG rely heavily on copying on other wheel manufacturers so you will definately find something nice (i.e. D2's from ROTA - one of my fave wheels from these guys; comes in Gold & Bronze too)

5zigen rims are nice too. Good quality with good prices. They are made in japan as well and there older style rims with 5 spoke are about $800 for 17s.

SSR, and other JDM companies are top of the line.

According to my buddy who goes to Japan yearly to buy cars to bring back as half cuts says SSR is like our APC haha

Don't rule out other brands. Do some research on quality stamps, how and where the rim is made. The brand you crave my not always have the size, weight or look you're going for.

$1000-$1200.... You are going to get cheap wheels for that...
Not the best quality, not the best finish....tend to be heavier....

You can't say Work/Volk are overpriced. They are made to high standards and for specific applications.

.........those $10 shoes are a great deal....Go jogging and you'll wish you bought the $100 shoes........

I highly recommend you pick these up if it's within your price range. It's a great price, the rims look like they're in 99.9% mint condition. You can't go wrong with Work.

that price is amazing...a set of new rubber may run you atleast 500. so, 1500 for work rims and tires....you cant beat that. but only if thats your style of rim.

Go to tirerack.com and select the style then PM Tires 23 in the sponsour section. They can hook you up with a nice set in your budget.

For $1200 you are looking at 17's, for $1500 - $1800 you can look at a nice set of 18's with Falken 225/40/18 912'a. Good starter tire then upgrade your rubber next season.

yes most of this has to do with your budget.

And don't say for around the $1200 to $1300 you won't get brand new. if you buy now you may. Now you may have to increase your budget a little but at least you could buy your wheels now!

I was just looking the other day and not planning on buying but HELL I cam across a set I love.

They are Maxxim (by Konig) Fourteen Graphite is the name/model. I can get them right now for $200.00 a wheel reg $340.00 a wheel so its tempting. But this time a year you can get wheels CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!
